James Will (born 7 October 1972) is a Scottish former professional football goalkeeper, who played for Arsenal, Dunfermline Athletic, Turriff United, Deveronvale [1] and Peterhead. [2]
Will played for Scotland youth national teams. He was the first choice goalkeeper as Scotland progressed to the final of the 1989 FIFA U-16 World Championship, which they lost on a penalty shootout to Saudi Arabia. [3] Will won the player of the tournament award, having only conceded three goals in the competition. [3] He later made three appearances for the Scotland under-21 team. [4]
After leaving professional football, [5] Will became a police officer in the Grampian force area. [6]
The Scotland national football team represents Scotland in men's international football and is controlled by the Scottish Football Association. It competes in the three major professional tournaments: the FIFA World Cup, UEFA Nations League and the UEFA European Championship. James Leighton is a Scottish former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Ferguson then signed Leighton for Manchester United in 1988, but dropped him after he conceded three goals in the 1990 FA Cup Final. Leighton then had spells with Arsenal, Reading, Dundee and Sheffield United, and rebuilt his career after joining Hibernian in 1993. He returned to Aberdeen in 1997, leading to a career total of over 600 appearances in the league alone.
