Julia Weissheimer Werlang Gama (born 18 May 1993) is a Brazilian model and a beauty pageant titleholder who was appointed Miss Brasil 2020. [1] [2] [3] She represented Brazil at the Miss Universe 2020 pageant, finishing as the 1st Runner-Up. [4]
Julia represented her native country Brazil at Miss World 2014. The final show was held on 14th December 2014, in London, England. Having been one of the early favourites in the competition, Julia placed among the Top 11 semi-finalists. The eventual winner was Rolene Strauss from South Africa, who became the third woman from South Africa to win the title.
Julia was appointed as Miss Universo Brasil 2020 on August 20 of the same year. [3] [2] [1] She was chosen by the new organization without a competition due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [5]
As the winner of Miss Brasil 2020, Gama represented Brazil at the 69th edition of Miss Universe 2020 pageant, [6] held on May 16, 2021 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, United States. [7] [8] [9] Gama finished in second place behind Mexico's Andrea Meza. [10] [11] This is Brazil's highest non-winning placement since 2007 when Natália Guimarães also finished as 1st Runner-Up.

Each state, the Federal District and various Insular Regions & Cities competed for the title. Julia Gama of Rio Grande do Sul originally crowned Ana Luísa Castro of Sergipe at the end of the contest but Castro resigned the title after the contest due to having an unrecognized marriage outside of Brazil in Belgium and wanting to get her marriage recognized in Brazil. As a result, Catharina Choi of Ilhabela was crowned as the Miss Brazil World 2015 by Castro. Choi represented Brazil at Miss World 2015. The contest was held at the Pedro Ivo Theater in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil.

Teresa Santos of Ceará crowned Mia Mamede of Espírito Santo as her successor at the end of the event. This is the first time that Espírito Santo got the title. Mamede represented Brazil at the Miss Universe 2022 pageant, but was unplaced.

The pageant was created in 1954 and has been held every year since with the exception of 1990, 1993, and 2020. The pageant is held annually with representation of several municipalities. Since 2023, Bebeto Azevêdo has been the state director of Miss Rio Grande do Sul. Rio Grande do Sul is the state with the most crowns in the national contest and also the state that produced the first Miss Brazil to win the Miss Universe contest, Iêda Maria Vargas of Porto Alegre.
