King Adebayo Film and Theatre Arts Network Television (KAFTAN TV) is a Nigerian independent 24-hour television channel. Established in December 2016, it is operated by KAFTAN TV Ventures, a trading and joint venture company headquartered in Ondo City, Ondo State, with additional offices in Lagos and Abuja. [2]

It is a member of the Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria (BON) which is a broad coalition of public and private broadcast organizations, duly registered by the Corporate Affairs Commission, as Nigeria's umbrella body of Terrestrial Free-to-Air Radio and Television (Tv), Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT), Direct-To-Home (DTH), and Multimedia Distribution System (MMDS). KAFTAN TV began broadcasting in September 2018. It broadcasts in the English language on StarTimes, BEN Television, and Lyngsat. [5] [6]

In August 2020, the company launched its Yoruba-language channel, which also began broadcasting to StarTimes nationwide and outside Nigeria on 1 September 2020. [6]

While covering the 2018 Osun State general elections in the state capital Osogbo, a KAFTAN TV crew member sustained injuries after being attacked by thugs during a violent disruption of election proceedings, with production equipment also sustaining irreparable damage. [7] [8] [9] [10]

KAFTAN TV operates a media production and theatre arts training entity and produces original programming, including feature documentaries, TV programs, and drama skits. It began offering a free television broadcasting training program, sponsored by the Queen Lilian Adebayo Foundation, for young people in Ondo State in January 2021. [11]

KAFTAN TV launched its signals on Thursday, 28 January 2021, on the UK’s BEN TV Sky Channel 195. [12]

Recognition

In October 2018, KAFTAN TV was named Best Exhibitor for Public Relations and Media at the Abuja International Trade Fair. [13]

In January 2021, KAFTAN TV received a Distinguished Excellence Award from the Coalition of Civil Societies and Media Executives for Good Governance in Nigeria (COCMEGG) for its "media exploits, advocacy and sensitization campaign on [the] COVID-19 pandemic." [14]

Ekiti State State of Nigeria

Olagunsoye Oyinlola Nigerian politician

Ọlagunsoye Oyinlọla is a retired Nigerian general, he became governor of Osun State in Nigeria in May 2003, and was reelected in 2007. He was a member of the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP). Chief Adebayo Adefarati was a Nigerian politician who was Governor of Ondo State in Nigeria from 1999 to 2003.

Afenifere was formed as a socio-cultural organization for the Yoruba people of Nigeria, with Chief Abraham Adesanya as its leader and Chief Bola Ige as deputy leader. Other founding members were Pa Onasanya, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, Adegbonmire, Okurounmu Femi, Ganiyu Dawodu, Olanihun Ajayi, Olu Falae, Adebayo Adefarati, Alhaji Adeyemo and Ayo Adebanjo. Adebayo Salami Nigerian politician (1951–2021)

Adebayo Ayoade Salami was a Nigerian politician who was elected Senator for the Osun Central constituency of Osun State, Nigeria at the start of the Nigerian Fourth Republic, running on the Alliance for Democracy (AD) platform. He resumed office on 29 May 1999. After taking his seat in the Senate in June 1999, he was then appointed to committees on Public Accounts, Labor (vice-chairman), Power & Steel and Water Resources. In a May 2001 debate over importing beans from Burkina Faso, Bayo Salami was in the minority when he argued that whatever could be done to feed Nigerians and make food affordable to the people should be done.

Alayeluwa Oba Okunade Sijuwade, or Sijuade, was the fiftieth traditional ruler or Ooni of Ife from 1980 to his death in 2015, taking the regnal name Olubuse II. Ife is a traditional Yoruba state based in the town of Ife in Osun State, Nigeria. He was crowned on 6 December 1980 in a ceremony attended by the Emir of Kano, Oba of Benin, Amayanabo of Opobo and Olu of Warri, as well as by representatives of the Queen of England.

Rauf Aregbesola Nigerian politician

Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola is the current Minister of the Federal Ministry of Interior of Nigeria. Before that he was the fourth civilian governor of Osun State. He is a native of Ilesa, Osun.

All Progressives Congress Nigerian political party

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is one of the two major contemporary political parties in Nigeria, along with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Founded on 6 February 2013 from a merger of Nigeria's three largest opposition parties, the party came to power following the victory of party candidate Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 presidential election. This marked the first time in Nigerian history that an opposition party unseated a governing party and power was transferred peacefully.

Femi Adebayo Salami is a Nigerian film director, film actor, lawyer, producer and Special Adviser to the Governor of Kwara State on Arts, Culture and Tourism. He is the son of the veteran actor, Adebayo Salami.

Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke is a Nigerian politician and businessman. He was a senator that represented the Osun-west senatorial district between 2017 and 2019. He is from the Adeleke family of Ede in Osun State. He contested the 2022 Osun State gubernatorial election and defeated incumbent governor, Adegboyega Isiaka Oyetola who defeated him in the 2018 Osun State gubernatorial election rerun.

Adegboyega Isiaka Oyetola is a Nigerian politician and Governor of Osun State. He contested the Osun State gubernatorial election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 22 September 2018 gubernatorial election and he won. On 23 March 2019 Tribunal declared him to have not been legally returned and orders INEC to issue certificates of return to Senator Adeleke of the PDP which is expected to be contested at the Court of Appeal Prior to his winning the election, he was the Chief of Staff to Rauf Aregbesola, his predecessor.

The 2003 Ondo State gubernatorial election occurred on April 19, 2003. PDP's Olusegun Agagu, a former Deputy Governor to Bamidele Olumilua, won election for a first tenure, defeating Incumbent Governor, AD's Adebayo Adefarati and three other candidates.

2022 Osun State gubernatorial election 2022 gubernatorial election in Osun State, Nigeria

The 2022 Osun State gubernatorial election took place on 16 July 2022, to elect the governor of Osun State. Incumbent All Progressives Congress Governor Gboyega Oyetola was eligible for re-election and was renominated by his party but lost by a 3.5% margin to former Senator Ademola Adeleke—the nominee of the Peoples Democratic Party.
