Deaflympics International sports event for deaf people

The Deaflympics also known as Deaflympiad are a periodic series of multi-sport events sanctioned by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) at which Deaf athletes compete at an elite level. Unlike the athletes in other IOC-sanctioned events, athletes cannot be guided by sounds. The games have been organized by the Comité International des Sports des Sourds since the first event in 1924.

2009 Summer Deaflympics

The 2009 Summer Deaflympics, officially known as the 21st Summer Deaflympics, is an international multi-sport event that was celebrated from September 5 to September 15, 2009 in Taipei, Taiwan. It is the third Summer Deaflympics to be held in Asia/Pacific region. Judo, karate, and taekwondo have been recognized as new summer disciplines in the Deaflympics sports competition program.

2017 Summer Deaflympics 23rd Summer Deaflympics

The 2017 Summer Deaflympics, officially known as the 23rd Summer Deaflympics, is an international multi-sport event that took place in Samsun, Turkey from July 18 to July 30, 2017. 3,148 athletes from 97 countries competed in 18 sports with 21 disciplines. 86 records were broken with 54 being world records and 32 being Deaflympics records.

United States at the Deaflympics Sporting event delegation

The United States has been participating at the Deaflympics from 1935 and it is also currently placed first in the all time Deaflympics medal list. US has won more than 1000 medals, the only nation to do so in Deaflympics.

She has won a total of 3 medals in her Deaflympic career including a Junior deaf world record breaking gold medal in the women's 200m event during the 2013 Summer Deaflympics.

Soviet Union at the Deaflympics Sporting event delegation

The Soviet Union competed at the Deaflympics for the first time in 1957. Soviet Union competed at each editions of the Summer Deaflympics from 1957 to 1989 except for the 1985 Summer Deaflympics until the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Soviet Union has won medals in every editions of the Summer Deaflympics it has competed and it is considered one of the greatest nations to have participated at the Deaflympics after earning a medal haul of 524 at the Summer Deaflympics.

2021 Summer Deaflympics 24rd Summer Deaflympics

The 2021 Summer Deaflympics, officially known as the 24th Summer Deaflympics, is an international multi-sport event scheduled to have Caxias do Sul, Brazil as main host city from May 1 to May 15, 2022. In addition to Caxias, there are events scheduled for the neighbour cites of Farroupilha and Flores da Cunha. This is the first time that the Games will be held in a Latin American, a South American country, outside the summer of the host city, the first time since the 2007 Winter Deaflympics held in Salt Lake City that the Deaflympics are held on CISS Americas Region and the first time that the games was to be held at Southern Hemisphere since the 2005 Summer Deaflympics held in Melbourne,Australia.

Golf at the 2017 Summer Deaflympics in Samsun was held at the Samsun Golf Course in Atakum from 21 to 26 July 2017.
