The Lagos Police Command is the Lagos State branch of the Nigerian Police Force. It is responsible for law enforcement and crime prevention in the state. The commissioner of this command is often appointed by the Inspector-General of Police. The current commissioner of the state command is CP Fayoade Adegoke. [1] [2] The current Public Relations Officer of the Command is SP Benjamin Hundeyin. The Lagos State Police Command has different area commands and zones.

Mobolaji Olufunso Johnson was a Nigerian Army Brigadier who served as Military Administrator of the Federal territory of Lagos from January 1966 to May 1967 during the military regime of General Aguyi-Ironsi, and then as Governor of Lagos State from May 1967 to July 1975 during the military regime of General Yakubu Gowon. As Governor of Lagos, his administration supervised the unpopular demolition of the Ajele Cemetery in the early 1970s.

The Nigeria Police Force is the principal law enforcement and the lead security agency in Nigeria. Designated by the 1999 constitution as the national police of Nigeria with exclusive jurisdiction throughout the country, as at 2016 it has a staff strength of about 371,800. There are currently plans to increase the force to 650,000, adding 280,000 new recruits to the existing 370,000. The Nigeria Police Force is a very large organisation consisting of 36 State commands and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) grouped into 17 zones and 8 administrative organs. The agency is currently headed by IGP Kayode Egbetokun. In 2020, it underwent major overhauls.

Sir Mike Mbama Okiro was the Inspector General of the Nigeria Police Force from 2007 to 2009.

Ahmadu Giade, a retired deputy commissioner of police, was appointed chairman of the Nigerian National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in November 2005. He replaced Bello Lafiaji, who was dismissed by President Obasanjo due to allegations of corruption. Giade has also served as Special Assistant on Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances to the president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari.

Alhaji Musiliu Adeola Kunbi Smith, is a former Inspector General of Police of Nigeria appointed in May 1999, who retired in March 2002 following a police strike.

Police Commissioner Habu Daura was acting Administrator of Bayelsa State, Nigeria, holding office from February to June 1997 during the military regime of General Sani Abacha. In 1999, Nuhu Ribadu, then a legal officer in the Police Force's Intelligence and Investigation Bureau, recommended that Daura be prosecuted for allegedly blocking investigations into cases of armed robbery in 1999. Daura was retired from the police force.

Abba Alhaji Kyari is a former Nigerian police officer who was a Deputy Commissioner of Police currently on suspension and relieved from all police duties pending the outcome of an internal investigation into his alleged connection with Gucci King, popular alleged fraudster Ramon Abbas "Hushpuppi". He was a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP). Prior to his appointment as IGP-IRT, he served at Lagos State Police Command as a unit Commander in one of the PMF bases located in Lagos before he was promoted and transferred to serve as the Officer-In-Charge of the dis-banded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

Ajah is a town in Eti-Osa local government area in Lagos State in Nigeria. It encompasses Addo, Langbasa, Badore, Ajiwe, VGC, etc. Ajah has been linked to shootings and clashes which resulted in death and loss of property.

Olatunji Disu is a Nigerian Police Officer, a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and the immediate past head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Police Force in Nigeria, the position previously held by Abba Kyari.
