Vicente Amigo Girol is a Spanish flamenco composer and guitarist, born in Guadalcanal near Seville. He has played as an accompanying guitarist on recordings by flamenco singers Camarón de la Isla, and Luis de Córdoba, and he has acted as a producer for Remedios Amaya and José Mercé. His album Ciudad de las Ideas won the 2001 Latin Grammy for the Best Flamenco Album and the 2002 Ondas award for the best Flamenco work.
New flamenco or flamenco fusion is a musical genre that was born in Spain, starting in the 1980s. It combines flamenco guitar virtuosity and traditional flamenco music with musical fusion.
The cante flamenco, meaning "flamenco singing", is one of the three main components of flamenco, along with toque and baile (dance). Because the dancer is front and center in a flamenco performance, foreigners often assume the dance is the most important aspect of the art form — in fact, it is the cante which is the heart and soul of the genre. A cante singer is a cantaor or cantaora.
Amar en tiempos revueltos, is a Spanish soap opera set in the times of the Spanish civil war and Francoist Spain. The serial was aired from 2005 to 2012 on La 1 of Televisión Española. Following disagreements of producing company Diagonal TV with RTVE, the fiction was relaunched in January 2013 on Antena 3 as Amar es para siempre. The broadcasting run from 27 September 2005 to 16 November 2012 comprised 1,707 episodes, 8 special episodes and 1 recap episode. The series has won prizes in Spain and a silver medal in the New York Festival.
Juan Manuel Cañizares is a Spanish flamenco guitarist and composer. He is a winner of the "Premio Nacional de Música" (1982) and "Premio de la Música" (2008) awards.
Siempre en Domingo was a Mexican variety show created and hosted by Raúl Velasco. The show aired on Televisa from December 14, 1969, until April 19, 1998, when Velasco retired.
Alma Ranchera is the title of the last studio album released by Spanish singer Rocío Dúrcal on 14 September 2004 by BMG and RCA. Produced by Memo Gil and Carlos Cabral "Junior", the album is a tribute to ranchera music.
El ministerio del tiempo is a Spanish fantasy television series created by Javier and Pablo Olivares and produced by Onza Partners and Cliffhanger for Televisión Española (TVE). It premiered on 24 February 2015 on TVE's main channel La 1. The series follows the exploits of an investigative team in the fictional Ministry of Time, which deals with incidents caused by time travel that can cause changes to the present day.
The Fair of the Dove is a 1963 Spanish musical comedy film directed by José Luis Sáenz de Heredia and starring Concha Velasco, Vicente Parra and Miguel Ligero. It is a remake of the film Paloma Fair.
Arde Madrid is a Spanish period comedy-drama limited television series created by Paco León and Anna R. Costa, which premiered on November 8, 2018, on Movistar+. León also directed every episode of the series and stars in it, alongside Debi Mazar, Inma Cuesta and Anna Castillo. The series tells the story of the period which American actress Ava Gardner spent in Francoist Spain. On 14 November 2018, Movistar+ renewed the series for a second season, but on 3 May 2019, the creators announced their decision to not continue the series. The series premiered May 5, 2020 in the US and Canada on MHz Choice, a subsidiary of MHz Networks.
The 1st Annual Premios Odeón was held on January 20, 2020 at the Teatro Real in Madrid. It was broadcast on Televisión Española at 10 p.m. CET. Nominations were revealed on December 19, 2019 during a press conference where they stated that "this award ceremony is considered the successor of the Premios Amigo and the Premios de la Música" which were canceled in 2007 and 2012 due to the Spanish economical crisis as well as the lack of strength of the Spanish musical industry. Thus, the fact that this award show were able to happen symbolizes the revival of the Spanish musical industry after a long period of weakness and irrelevance.
Los negocios de mamá is a Spanish comedy television series starring Rocío Dúrcal and José Sancho and directed by Luis Sanz. It aired in 1997 on La Primera.
The Critical Eye Awards were created in 1990 by the Radio Nacional de España (RNE) program El Ojo Crítico. They recognize and promote the work of young talents, under 40 years of age, who have distinguished themselves in the preceding year in the modalities of plastic arts, narrative, poetry, film, theater, classical music, modern music, and dance. Since 1997, RNE has also presented the Special Critical Eye Award for an outstanding career. The Ibero-American Critical Eye Award has been presented biennially since 2014.
The 23rd Annual Latin Grammy Awards ceremony was held on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at the Michelob Ultra Arena, Las Vegas to honour the best musical releases within Latin music released from June 1, 2021, to May 31, 2022. The nominations were announced via a virtual livestream on September 20, 2022, presented by Kany García, Christina Aguilera, Banda Los Sebastianes, Becky G, Yotuel, Criolo, Nicky Jam, Akapellah, Luísa Sonza, Sebastián Yatra and Camilo. The three-hour ceremony aired live on Univision and was hosted by singers Anitta, Luis Fonsi, Laura Pausini and Thalía.
