Virgin Australia (known as Virgin Blue until early 2011) is an Australian airline, with headquarters in Brisbane, Australia. [1] [2] [3] [4] A number of hubs are located throughout Australia.

Virgin Australia previously suspended flights from 30 March 2020 to all international destinations "in response to expanded government travel restrictions and increased impacts from COVID-19 on travel demand", [5] [6] as well as several destinations in Australia. [7]

Flights to Bali, Cairns and Townsville are all currently operated by Virgin Australia but they've been terminated by Virgin Australia Regional. Since Virgin Australia's take over of Skywest, two original WA Coastal Network (Skywest) destinations have been cancelled (Exmouth & Busselton) with Albany, Esperance and Ravensthorpe also ending on 27 February 2016. [26]

Codeshare and interline agreements

Currently, Virgin Australia has agreements with airlines including United Airlines, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, Etihad Airways, and Air Canada.

It was announced on 26 August 2010 that Virgin Australia had signed a codeshare and interline agreement with Etihad Airways, giving Virgin passengers access to 65 destinations in Europe and the Middle East. [27]

Virgin America and Virgin Australia International Airlines shared terminal facilities at Los Angeles International Airport's Terminal 3, however, only the check-in desks are located there, both inbound and outbound Virgin Australia flights arrive and depart from the Tom Bradley International Terminal.

United Airlines and Virgin Australia announced on 15 December 2021 that beginning in April 2022, a new partnership between the two would see the longer than a decade partnership with Delta Air Lines would be scrapped. [28]

The airline has since grown to directly serve 32 cities in Australia, from hubs in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.

Zayed International Airport, also known as Abu Dhabi International Airport, is the primary international airport serving Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It is the second busiest airport in the UAE after Dubai International Airport, and is the hub for Etihad Airways as well as an operating base for Wizz Air Abu Dhabi and Air Arabia Abu Dhabi.

Jetstar Airways Pty Ltd, operating as Jetstar, is an Australian low-cost airline headquartered in Melbourne, Victoria. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Qantas, created in response to the threat posed by the airline Virgin Blue. Jetstar is part of Qantas' two brand strategy of having Qantas Airways for the premium full-service market and Jetstar for the low-cost market. As of 2015, Jetstar carries 8.5% of all passengers travelling in and out of Australia.

Air Seychelles is the national airline of the Republic of Seychelles. Its head office is located at Seychelles International Airport on the island of Mahé and it operates inter-island and international flights and charter flights.

Darwin Airline SA was a Swiss regional airline with its head office in Bioggio, Lugano flying under the brand name Adria Airways Switzerland. It operated scheduled domestic and international services in some western European countries. It used the brand name Etihad Regional from January 2014 to July 2017, when Etihad Airways sold its 33% stake to the owner of Adria Airways. It previously also operated flights on behalf of Alitalia. Its bases were Geneva Airport and Lugano Airport.

Tiger Airways Australia Pty Ltd, operating as Tigerair Australia, was an Australian low-cost airline. Founded by Tiger Airways Holdings, it commenced services in the domestic airline market on 23 November 2007 as Tiger Airways Australia. It later became a subsidiary of Virgin Australia Holdings. On 25 March 2020, Tigerair suspended all operations as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. V Australia was a long-haul international airline owned by Virgin Australia Holdings that commenced operating on 27 February 2009. As part of a rebranding of all of Virgin Australia Holdings' subsidiaries, on 7 December 2011 it was subsumed into Virgin Australia.

Virgin Australia Regional Airlines is an Australian regional airline based in Perth, servicing key towns in the state of Western Australia. The airline also flies interstate to destinations such as Adelaide, Darwin, Melbourne and Alice Springs. Formerly known as Skywest, in April 2013 the airline was purchased by Virgin Australia Holdings as its new regional offshoot. On 21 April 2020, Virgin Australia Regional Airlines' parent company, Virgin Australia Holdings went into voluntary administration due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Africa World Airlines Limited (AWA) is a Ghanaian airline company that was incorporated in 2010 and commenced flights in 2012. It has its head office in Airport City Accra, and its main hub at Kotoka International Airport in Accra.

Air Serbia is the flag carrier of Serbia. The company's headquarters is located in Belgrade, Serbia, and its main hub is Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport. The airline was known as Jat Airways until it was renamed and rebranded in 2013.
