He announced, on 1 August 2016, that he would be stepping down from this role at the end of January 2017. His successor at Hull is Professor Susan Lea.

Die Hoërskool Menlopark is a public Afrikaans medium co-educational high school situated in the suburb of Menlo Park in Pretoria in the Gauteng province of South Africa. The school learners call themselves as Parkies.

The University of Pretoria Faculty of Law was established in 1908 and consists of six academic departments, six centres, two law clinics and its own publishing house, the Pretoria University Law Press (PULP). This faculty ranked best in Africa for the fourth year in a row with leading Departments of Jurisprudence; Mercantile Law; Private Law; Procedural Law; Public Law; and Centre for Human Rights. University of Pretoria Public university in South Africa

The University of Pretoria is a multi-campus public research university in Pretoria, the administrative and de facto capital of South Africa. The university was established in 1908 as the Pretoria campus of the Johannesburg-based Transvaal University College and is the fourth South African institution in continuous operation to be awarded university status. The university has grown from the original 32 students in a single late Victorian house to approximately 53,000 in 2019. The university was built on seven suburban campuses on 1,190 hectares.

World Human Rights Moot Court Competition

The Nelson Mandela World Human Rights Moot Court Competition is a moot court competition on international human rights law. In 2009, the University of Pretoria Faculty of Law's Centre for Human Rights, with the assistance of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, organised the inaugural edition. Previously, the oral rounds of the competition were held annually in Pretoria, the administrative and de facto capital of South Africa. In more recent years, the competition has been held in Geneva, where the United Nations is headquartered.

More than pure aspirations, human rights are real rights that can be tested in courts of law. The World Human Rights Moot Court Competition is an exciting way for students from around the world to deepen their knowledge of rights and learn from each other.

Cheryl de la Rey

Professor Cheryl Merle de la Rey is a South African academic who, since 2019, has been vice-chancellor of University of Canterbury in New Zealand. She was formerly Vice-Chancellor of the University of Pretoria in South Africa and has a distinguished career as a leader in South African higher education.

Dire Tladi is a professor of international law at the Department of Public Law and the Institute for International and Comparative Law in Africa at the University of Pretoria. He is also extraordinary professor at the Public Law Department of the University of Stellenbosch. He has served as the Principal State Law Adviser for International Law for the South African Department of International Relations and Cooperation and Legal Counsellor to the South Africa Mission to the United Nations.

The University of Pretoria Faculty of Engineering, the Built Environment and Information Technology educational programs stretch back to 1908 and consists of the School of Engineering, School for the Built Environment, School of Information Technology and the Graduate School of Technology Management. The university is the only African collaborator in the CDIO engineering initiative: Since 1997, the university as a whole has produced more research outputs every year than any other institution of higher learning in South Africa, as measured by the Department of Education's accreditation benchmark.

AfriForum is a South African non-governmental organisation focused mainly on the interests of Afrikaners, a subgroup of the country's white population. AfriForum has been frequently described as a white nationalist, alt-right, and Afrikaner nationalist group, a description rejected by the organisation's leadership, who refer to themselves as a civil rights group.

Adriaan Nicolaas Petrus Pelzer South African Afrikaans academic, historian, author and Professor

Adriaan Nicolaas Petrus Pelzer was a South African Afrikaans academic, historian, author and Professor at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. He retired as vice rector and acting rector in 1980 from the University of Pretoria. Among books published are the following "The Afrikaner-Broederbond: First 50 Years (1980)" and "Verwoerd Speaks Speeches 1948–1966 (1966)". He was also member of the "National Monuments Council" and in 1978 received the Laureate Award from the University of Pretoria. The Laureate Award is the highest award granted by the University of Pretoria. From 1965 to 1978 he was vice-president and member of the executive committee of Northern-Transvaal Rugby Union, and lifelong member from 1979.

Louis Theodor Christian Harms is a South African former deputy president of the Supreme Court of Appeal and Professor Extraordinary for Intellectual Property Law at the University of Pretoria.

The University of Pretoria Faculty of Education was incorporated and merged with the University of Pretoria in 1908. The Faculty has five departments, four centres and units and collaborates with more than seven international bodies. The Faculty offers the undergraduate BEd degrees, postgraduate degrees as well as several continuing education courses.

Tawana Kupe Zimbabwean-South African academic

Tawana Kupe is a Zimbabwean-South African academic. He is the vice-chancellor of the University of Pretoria in South Africa. Prior to this appointment he held several senior positions at the University of Witwatersrand where he also founded the Media Studies Department. He also lectured at Rhodes University. Before Rhodes, he worked in various academic capacities at the University of Zimbabwe.
