Produced over a period of two years with a budget of Rp. 800 million, the film was sponsored by Suharto's New Order government. It was based on an official history of the 30 September Movement coup in 1965 written by Nugroho Notosusanto and Ismail Saleh, which depicted the coup as being orchestrated by the Communist Party of Indonesia.

Satan's Slaves is a 2017 Indonesian horror film written and directed by Joko Anwar. It is a loose remake-prequel to the 1980 film of the same name directed by Sisworo Gautama Putra based on a story by Subagio S. The plot follows a family who are haunted by the death of their mother, who dies after being bedridden for three years from a strange and debilitating illness.

Ayat-Ayat Cinta 2 is the 2017 Indonesian religious drama film that was released on December 21, 2017 and directed by Guntur Soehardjanto, who previously won nine awards at the 2005 Indonesian Film Festival through his work Juli di Bulan Juni. It is a sequel from Ayat-Ayat Cinta (2008). The plot follows Fahri, who has become a professor in Edinburgh, Scotland. He lives well without Aisha, his wife who is missing for months when she served as a volunteer in the Gaza Strip. While waiting for news of his wife, he faces many problems from romance to distress for being a Muslim in Europe where Islamophobia is surging throughout the place.

Dilan 1990 is a 2018 Indonesian coming of age romantic drama film. It is based on the novel Dilan: Dia adalah Dilanku Tahun 1990 by Pidi Baiq. The film stars Iqbaal Ramadhan and Vanesha Prescilla as the main roles, with some high-profile names in supporting, minor, or cameo roles; Farhan, Happy Salma, Adhisty Zara of idol group JKT48, and Ridwan Kamil, the then-Mayor of Bandung. The film has been watched by 6.3 million people, and is the best-selling Indonesian film of 2018 and the second best-selling Indonesian film of all time, just behind Warkop DKI Reborn: Jangkrik Boss! Part 1 with 6.8 million viewers. The film is followed by a sequel, Dilan 1991, which was released on 28 February 2019.

The film is a spin-off, having its point of view from Dilan and displaying events uncaptured in the previous two films. KKN di Desa Penari is a 2022 Indonesian horror film directed by Awi Suryadi, based on a viral Twitter thread of the same name by SimpleMan, produced by MD Pictures and its subsidiary, Pichouse Films. This film stars Tissa Biani, Adinda Thomas, and Achmad Megantara. This film released on April 30, 2022, previously this film was planned to be released on March 19, 2020, and than on February 24, 2022, but both of the date has pulled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Upon its release, it became the highest-grossing film in Indonesian history.

Upon its release, Anwar indicated plans for a possible third instalment in the series.

Ivanna is a 2022 Indonesian horror thriller directed by Kimo Stamboel and written by Lele Laila, starring Caitlin Halderman, Jovarel Callum, Junior Roberts, Shandy William, and Sonia Alyssa. The film story is adapted from a novel written by Risa Saraswati and the film is the spin-off from Danur 2: Maddah and part of Danur universe.
