<span class="mw-page-title-main">Kumanovo</span> Town in Northeastern, North Macedonia

Kumanovo is a city in North Macedonia and the seat of Kumanovo Municipality, the largest municipality in the country. Kumanovo lies 340 metres above sea level and is surrounded by the Karadag part of Skopska Crna Gora mountain on its western side, Gradištanska mountain on its southern side, and Mangovica and German mountain on the Eastern side. Skopje airport also serves Kumanovo.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Nikola Karev</span> Macedonian Bulgarian revolutionary (1877–1905)

Nikola Yanakiev Karev was a Macedonian Bulgarian revolutionary. He was born in Kırşova and died in the village of Rayçani (Rajčani), both today in North Macedonia. Karev was a local leader of what later became known as the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization (IMRO). He was also a teacher in the Bulgarian school system in his native area, and a member of the Bulgarian Workers' Social Democratic Party. Today he is considered a hero in Bulgaria and in North Macedonia.

Lazar Koliševski was a Macedonian Yugoslav communist political leader in the Socialist Republic of Macedonia and briefly in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. He was closely allied with Josip Broz Tito.

Dnevnik was the first private daily newspaper in Macedonia, now known as North Macedonia.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Fadil Nimani</span> Kosovo Liberation Army commander

Fadil Nimani was a Kosovar Albanian insurgent commander of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) during the Kosovo War (1998–99), and of the National Liberation Army (NLA) during the Macedonian Conflict (2001), in which the Albanian population sought independence of Albanian-inhabited areas in FR Yugoslavia and Republic of North Macedonia, respectively. He was appointed commander of the 114th Brigade of the NLA, active in the Kumanovo region, and had about 150 people under his command. He was killed by Macedonian special forces in an operation during the Macedonian Conflict, on 25 May 2001. A statue has been erected by ethnic Albanian politicians and former NLA fighters at Vaksince in his honour.


Ploshtad was a weekly newspaper in Kumanovo, Macedonia that started to work since 2013. Newspaper editor was Marjan Petrushevski. The newspaper price was 20 MKD.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2015 Kumanovo clashes</span>

The 2015 Kumanovo clashes, also known as Operation Divo naselje, were a series shootouts which erupted during a raid between the Macedonian police and an armed group identifying itself as the National Liberation Army (NLA). They began on 9 May 2015 in the northern Macedonian town of Kumanovo. During the shootings, eight Macedonian policemen and 14 of the militants were killed, while 37 officers were wounded and hospitalized. The shooting ended on 10 May 2015, in an operation by the Macedonian police and armed forces, in which 36 militants were arrested and charged with terrorism-related charges by the Macedonian authorities.

<i>Nash Vesnik</i>

Nash Vesnik was a local regional newspaper in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and later the Republic of Macedonia, now known as North Macedonia. First it was a monthly newspaper. Because of a great interest, it started to be published twice a month. Since April 1970 it was published weekly every Friday and since 1971 it became an official newspaper of the local government in Kumanovo. In 1989 the responsibility of the newspaper went to the Assembly of Macedonia.

Mlad Borec was a weekly magazine in Socialist Republic of Macedonia and later Macedonia. The motto of the magazine was "with youth - for the youth".

Shpic translated: "Pinnacle", was a daily newspaper in North Macedonia. The newspaper was free until 2010, after which date it cost 15 MKD.

Bitolski Vesnik is a regional weekly newspaper in North Macedonia. First the newspaper had only 8 pages. Since 1998 the newspaper organizes a manifestation "We select the most successful people from Bitola".

Glbus was a weekly political magazine in Macedonia. Currently the magazine operates with online edition.

Beseda was a periodical magazine in former Yugoslavia for Art and Culture.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Battle of Raduša</span> 2001 battle in the Republic of Macedonia

The battle of Raduša, also known as the battle for Rašče or the battle for the salvation of Rašče was a series of skirmishes and ambushes that started in the middle of July 2001 and ended in a full-scale invasion of the Albanian National Liberation Army (NLA) and Kosovo Protection Corps members from the territory of Kosovo concentrated at the Raduša police checkpoint and Army border outpost near the village of Rašče. This battle took place during the General Ceasefire Agreement and was the worst violation of the treaty with the NLA abusing the demilitarized zones around the border to advance. The first incidents began near the end of June and escalated in the middle of August 2001. Despite heavy use of aerial bombardment, the insurgents of the NLA managed to destroy the Army outpost and police station after which the Macedonian police forces were withdrawn to secondary defensive positions.

Spase Mazenkovski was an Albanian writer and publicist. He authored over 120 fables and published books, poem collections, short stories, and reports; most of these were in Macedonian, though he also published in Albanian. Mazenkovski was born in and died in the village of Leskë, having lived there his whole life. He was founder and president of the "Društvo Prespa" organization, founder and chief editor of the newspaper Prespa, and founder of the Macedonian Alliance for European Integration political party. Following his death, he was named an honorary citizen of Pustec Municipality by the municipal council. In April 2023, the newspaper Prespa marked its 30th anniversary, since its founding by Mazenkovski.
