The District of Luxembourg was one of three districts of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. It contained four cantons, divided into 44 communes:
- Capellen
- Esch-sur-Alzette
- Luxembourg
- Mersch
Mamer is a commune and town in south-western Luxembourg. It is located 7 km (4.3 mi) west of Luxembourg City. The commune includes both Mamer itself and the smaller communities of Capellen and Holzem. Mamer is situated on the river Mamer, a tributary of the Alzette. The A6 motorway from Luxembourg to Brussels, also designated European route E25, runs through Mamer.
The 2005–06 Luxembourg National Division was the 92nd season of top level association football in Luxembourg. The competition ran from 7 August 2005 to 28 May 2006. The league title was won by F91 Dudelange, who also won the Luxembourg Cup to complete the Double.
Line 60 is a railway line connecting Luxembourg City to the Red Lands of the south of Luxembourg, and on to France. The terminus at the northern end is Luxembourg railway station, whilst the terminals at the south are Rumelange, Pétange, and the French towns of Volmerange-les-Mines and Audun-le-Tiche. It is designated, and predominantly operated, by Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois.
Dudelange-Centre railway station is a railway station serving central Dudelange, in southern Luxembourg. It is operated by Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois, the state-owned railway company.
Line 50 is a Luxembourgian railway line connecting Luxembourg City to the west of the country, leading to Kleinbettingen and on to Arlon, in south-eastern Belgium. The terminus at the eastern end is Luxembourg railway station. It is designated, and predominantly operated, by Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois.
Belval is a quarter and neighbourhood in the west of Esch-sur-Alzette, in south-western Luxembourg. Belval is the site of the large steelworks that dominate the city. Due to the dominance of the steelworks, Belval suffered from the abandonment of steel production in Luxembourg, and is undergoing an extensive regeneration programme to help diversify beyond steel production. The redevelopment plan, costed at €450m, will turn the brownfield site into a large scientific and cultural centre, including the science faculty of the University of Luxembourg. It is the location of the Rockhal, Luxembourg's largest music venue, which opened in 2005.
Lycée Josy Barthel, abbreviated to LJBM, is a high school in Mamer, in south-western Luxembourg. It was opened in September 2003, and cost €67.4m to build. It comprises 60 classrooms and 16 workshops, and has a capacity of 1,300 students. It is named after Josy Barthel, winner of Luxembourg's only Olympic gold medal-winner and former cabinet member.
Joël de Almeida Pedro is a Luxembourger former international footballer who last played for FC Mamer 32, as a midfielder.
Jim Clemes is a Luxembourg architect who founded the Esch-sur-Alzette firm Atelier d’Architecture et de Design Jim Clemes in 1984. He and his firm have designed several modern Luxembourg buildings and are also involved in town planning initiatives.
The Luxembourg Basketball Federation also known as FLBB, is the governing body of basketball in Luxembourg. It was founded in 1934, and became members of FIBA in 1946.
The 2021 Tour de Luxembourg was the 81st edition of the Tour de Luxembourg road cycling stage race. It was held from 14 and 18 September, as part of the 2021 UCI Europe Tour and the 2021 UCI ProSeries.
