The National Airline of Iran, branded as Iran Air, is the flag carrier of Iran, which is headquartered at Mehrabad Airport in Tehran. Bushehr Province is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. It is in the south of the country, with a long coastline on the Persian Gulf. The city of Bushehr is the provincial capital. At the 2006 census, the province's population was 886,490 in 188,762 households. The following census in 2011 counted 1,032,949 people in 246,742 households. At the 2016 census, the province's population was 1,163,400 in 321,826 households.

Iran uses three official calendar systems, including the Solar Hijri calendar as the main and national calendar, the Gregorian calendar for international events and Christian holidays, and the Lunar Hijri calendar for Islamic holidays.

Iran Aseman Airlines Flight 6895, was a Boeing 737-200, registered as EX-009, operating a charter flight operated by Itek Air on behalf of Iran Aseman Airlines which crashed on 24 August 2008 near Manas International Airport in Kyrgyzstan while en route to Imam Khomeini International Airport, Tehran, Iran. It crashed while returning to the airport of origin after experiencing technical difficulties.

Iran Air Flight 277 was a scheduled Iran Air flight from Mehrabad International Airport, Tehran to Urmia, Iran. On January 9, 2011, the Boeing 727 serving the flight crashed after an aborted approach to Urmia Airport in poor weather. Of the 105 people on board, 78 were killed. The official investigation concluded that icing conditions and incorrect engine management by the crew led to a double engine flame-out, loss of altitude and impact with the ground.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Islamic Republic of Iran (CAA.IRI), is Iran's civil aviation agency. The Association of Families of Flight PS752 Victims is not-for-profit organization that represents the families of 140 of the victims of the downing of Flight PS752 of Ukrainian International Airlines. The association is independent, with no ties to any political parties or movements; it has been established to keep the memories of the passengers alive, unite the grieving families of victims, and seek justice after flight PS752 was targeted by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
