Liu Tianyou, (born 1982 in Sichuan) is a male Chinese sport shooter. He won the gold medal at the 2006 Asian Games in the Men's 10 m Air Rifle event. [1]
Liu was born in 1982 in Sichuan, China. He is 170 cm tall and weighs 55 kg. Both Liu's dominant eye and hand are on the right. [2] He has practiced shooting since 1998, and started officially competing in 2002, with Zhang Qiu Pin as his personal coach. [2] Liu is currently enrolled a student at Tsinghua University, where he, like many Chinese athletes, strives to find a balance between training and schoolwork. [3]
Liu's first medal, as a Junior, was at the 2002 ISSF World Shooting Championships in Lahti, Finland, where he won a bronze in the 50 metre rifle three positions event with a total of 1157 points. He won his second bronze in the 10-meter air rifle event at the ISSF World Cup meet in Milan, Italy, with 697.9 points. [2]
In 2006, Liu won a silver medal in the men's 10-meter air rifle event at the ISSF World Cup meet in Guangzhou. He was the only Chinese qualifier for the final competition, with a total of 699.6 total points that got him the silver. [4] He won another silver at the World Cup finals in Granada with 698.2 total points. [5] That year, Liu also competed in Doha, Qatar, for the 2006 Asian Games, where he won his first gold medal in the Men's 10 m Air Rifle event, with 700.8 total points. This was the year that China dominated the Asian Games, winning 16 out of 20 gold medals on the first official day of competition. He, with Olympic champion Zhu Qinan and Li Jie, beat South Korea with 1,786 points to win the first gold of the Games. [6]
In 2007, Liu won a silver medal in the men's 10-meter air rifle event in the 2007 Asian Championships at Kuwait City, with 700 points, and a bronze medal in the same event at the ISSF World Cup meet in Fort Benning, with 698.8 total points. [2]
Gagan Narang is an Indian sport shooter, supported by the Olympic Gold Quest. He won the bronze medal in the Men's 10 m Air Rifle Event at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London with a final score of 701.1 on 30 July 2012. He was also a member of prestigious Padma award committee 2023.
Honorary Captain Vijay Kumar Sharma, AVSM, SM is an Indian sport shooter. He won the silver medal in the individual 25 metre rapid fire pistol event at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Kumar hails from Barsar village of Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh and is a retired Subedar Major in the Dogra Regiment Indian Army, who was later promoted to Honorary Captain Rank. Vijay Kumar is supported by the Olympic Gold Quest initiative. He is the only Indian to have won a medal at 25m rapid Fire Pistol. He has been posted at Indian Army Marksmanship Unit (AMU) Mhow since 2003 where he is being coached by the Russian Pavel Smirnov.
Master Chief Petty Officer Sanjeev Rajput is an Arjuna Awardee Indian sport shooter from Yamuna Nagar, Haryana. He was a retired Junior Commissioned Officer in Indian Navy.
Abhinav Apjit Bindra is an Indian Olympic gold medallist, retired sport shooter, and businessman. He is the first and one of only two Indians to win an Individual Olympic Gold Medal. He is the first Indian to have held concurrently the world and Olympic titles for the men's 10-meter air rifle event, having earned those honors at the 2008 Summer Olympics and the 2006 ISSF World Shooting Championships. Bindra has also won seven medals at the Commonwealth Games and three medals at the Asian Games.
Li Jie is a male Chinese sports shooter who competed in the 2004 Summer Olympics. He won the silver medal in the men's 10 metre air rifle competition. He lives in Xi'an, Shaanxi.
Ronjan Sodhi is an Indian Double trap shooter. He won two silver medals at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and a gold medal at the 2010 Asian Games. In 2011, he became first Indian to successfully defend a World Cup title. He is also a recipient of the Arjuna Award and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award (2013).
Sergey Rikhter is a Ukrainian-born Israeli Olympic sport shooter.
Apurvi Singh Chandela is an Indian Shooting player who competes in the 10 metre air rifle event. She won the gold medal in the 2019 ISSF World Cup in New Delhi. She is a recipient of Arjuna award.
Jitu Rai is an Indian Army Subedar Major who competes in the 10 metre air pistol and 50 metre pistol events. The Government of India announced the Khel Ratna Award for him in 2016. In 2020, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award in the Republic of India.
Subedar Chain Singh is an Indian sport shooter and a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) in the Indian Army, supported by OGQ. He won the Bronze medal at the 2014 Asian Games in the men's 50m rifle 3 positions event. He won an individual Gold medal in the 7th Asian Airgun championship Kuwait. He won six Gold medals, three in individual events and three in team events, in the 2016 South Asian Games.
Junior Warrant Officer Ravi Kumar is an Indian sport shooter. He won the bronze medal at the 2014 Asian Games at Incheon in the men's 10m air rifle team event, along with Abhinav Bindra and Sanjeev Rajput. At the 2018 Commonwealth Games, he won bronze medal in the men's 10 metre air rifle event. He is a Junior Commissioned Officer in Indian Air Force.
Yang Haoran is a Chinese sport shooter. He has collected a career tally of fourteen medals and broke eight world junior records in air rifle shooting at major international competitions, spanning the Youth Olympics, Asian Games, World Championships, and World Cup series. Having pursued the sport since age 12, Yang trained full-time as a member of the Chinese shooting team, at the sports academy in Chengde, under his personal coach and 2000 Olympic champion Cai Yalin.
Dick Boschman is a Dutch sport shooter. He has been selected to compete for the Netherlands in two editions of the Olympic Games, and has won a career tally of nine medals in a major international competition, spanning the ISSF World Cup series and the European Championships. Boschman trains full-time under trainer Heinz Reinkemeier (GER) for the national team, while practicing at Oostendorp Shooting Range in his hometown Elburg.
Vyacheslav Skoromnov is an Uzbek-born Qatari sport shooter. He has been selected to compete for his native Uzbekistan in rifle shooting at the 2004 Summer Olympics, and has achieved a total of two medals, a gold and a silver, and numerous top ten finishes in a major international competition, spanning the Asian Games, and the Asian Championships. Currently living in Doha, Qatar since 2010, Skoromnov holds his dual citizenship to compete internationally in shooting.
Martina Lindsay Veloso is a Singaporean sports shooter. She won the gold medal in the 2014 ISSF World Cup in the 10 meters Air Rifle Women event and thus becoming the youngest ISSF shooter in getting one. She has also won the silver medal in 2014 Summer Youth Olympics. She was named Sportsgirl of the Year for 2015 and Sportswoman of the Year for 2019.
Arjun Babuta is an Indian sport shooter, supported by OGQ. He is from Chandigarh who competes in the 10 meter air rifle events. Arjun has been a part of the Indian Shooting Team since 2016. He has represented India at the ISSF Junior World Cup 2016(Suhl), ISSF Junior World Cup 2016(Gabala), ISSF Junior World Championship 2017(Suhl) and the ISSF Junior World Cup 2018(Sydney).
Manu Bhaker is an Indian Olympian who competes at shooting, supported by OGQ. She represented India at the 2018 ISSF World Cup and won two gold medals. She is the youngest Indian to win a gold medal at the ISSF World Cup. She won the gold medal in women's 10 m air pistol event at 2018 Commonwealth Games just at the age of 16 in her maiden Commonwealth Games appearance. She won the team gold for India in the women’s 25m pistol team event at the Asian Games, along with Esha Singh and Rhythm Sangwan.
Lin Ying-shin is a Taiwanese sports shooter. She won her first gold medal at the 2018 ISSF World Cup in Munich in the 10 m air rifle. Lin started off the 2018 season by winning a Junior World Cup silver medal in Sydney, and then claimed a silver in the open category at the ISSF World Cup stage 2 in Changwon. Lin competed at the 2018 Asian Games, and claimed the first gold medal for the Chinese Taipei contingent after finished in the first place in the mixed 10 metre air rifle team event partnered with Lu Shao-chuan. She finished third at the International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup in 2019, guaranteeing a place at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
Shriyanka Sadangi is an Indian shooter from Odisha. She has represented her state and India at national and international level.
Jeanette Hegg Duestad is a Norwegian sport shooter. Her achievements include winning an individual gold medal in rifle shooting at the 2022 world championships, as well as team gold medals in 2022 and 2023.
