Sinking

Adriatica sank off the Israeli port city of Ashdod in heavy seas on the morning of December 12, 2010, after issuing a mayday distress signal. The ship was carrying a cargo of 3,000 tonnes of steel. The crew of 11 Ukrainian nationals took to two life rafts. Israeli Navy and Israeli Air Force helicopters began search and rescue operations but the crew was saved by a nearby Taiwanese vessel before the Israeli rescuers were able to reach the life rafts. MV <i>Senopati Nusantara</i> Indonesian ferry; sank in a 2006 storm

The MV Senopati Nusantara was an Indonesian ferry that sank in a storm on December 30, 2006. The Japanese-made ship was a scheduled passenger liner from the port of Kumai in Central Kalimantan (Borneo) to Tanjung Emas port in Semarang, Central Java. About 40 km (25 mi) off Mandalika Island, the ship sank during a violent storm in the Java Sea. At least 400–500 people are thought to have drowned.

MV <i>Salem Express</i> Car and passenger ferry wrecked off the Egyptian coast

MV Asia South Korea was a Philippines passenger ferry owned by Trans-Asia Shipping Lines that sank off Bantayan Island in Cebu province on 23 December 1999. It was discovered that the number of passengers aboard exceeded the total capacity of the 27-year-old ferry.

The Russian-flagged fishing trawler Dalniy Vostok sank on 1 April 2015, off Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula in the Sea of Okhotsk. Fifty-seven of the ship's 132 crew members were confirmed dead, with rescue operations underway for survivors. The freezer trawler sank 183 nautical miles west of Krutogorovsky, a settlement in Kamchatka's Sobolevsky District.

MV Volgo-Balt 214 was a Panama-flagged Ukrainian general cargo ship, which sank in the Black Sea off the coast of Samsun, Turkey on 7 January 2019. Six of the thirteen crew members on board died while seven of them were rescued by the Turkish authorities and taken to hospital.
