Mike Elliott (born 4 June 1974) is a British Formula One aerodynamicist. He was the chief technical officer at the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team. [1]

Biography

Elliott started his career in motorsport in 2000 as an aerodynamicist for McLaren. In 2003, he then became a trackside aerodynamicist before progressing on to being the team leader for aerodynamic performance at McLaren in 2006. In 2008, he moved to the Renault F1 team to become the principal aerodynamicist, [2] he stayed with the Enstone team until 2012 when he moved to Mercedes to become the head of aerodynamics. [3] In 2017 he replaced Geoff Willis as technology director at Mercedes. [4] In 2021 he succeeded James Allison as technical director at the team. [5] On 21 April 2023, it was announced that Elliott would swap roles with Allison, who would return as Technical Director, while Elliott would become Chief Technical Officer. [6]

The McLaren MCL33 is a Formula One racing car designed and constructed by McLaren to compete in the 2018 FIA Formula One World Championship. The car was driven by two-time World Drivers' Champion Fernando Alonso and Stoffel Vandoorne, with additional testing and development work carried out by reigning European Formula 3 champion Lando Norris and McLaren's regular test driver Oliver Turvey. The MCL33 is the first car built by McLaren to use a customer Renault engine after the team terminated its engine supply deal with Honda after three years and also first McLaren car to utilize a French-licensed engine manufacturer since the Peugeot-powered McLaren MP4/9 in 1994.
