The Nebelhorn Trophy is an annual international figure skating competition organized by the Deutsche Eislauf-Union and held in Oberstdorf, Germany. In most years, the event is part of the ISU Challenger Series. The competition is named after the Nebelhorn, a nearby mountain. Medals may be awarded in men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance. The Fritz-Geiger-Memorial Trophy is presented to the team with the highest placements across all disciplines.
The Nebelhorn Trophy competition has been held annually since 1969 and is one of the oldest international figure skating competitions. In its early years, it was paired with a now-defunct French event, the Grand Prix International St. Gervais, to form the Coupe des Alpes, with many of the same skaters participating in both events and a team trophy presented to the country with the highest combined placements across both competitions. During the 1980s and early 1990s, before the establishment of a regular junior international competition circuit, younger skaters were often sent to these events as their first senior international competition assignments. International Figure Skating called the event "unique" because skaters are also awarded trophies along with their medals. [1]
In recent years, the Nebelhorn Trophy has also been used by the International Skating Union to experiment with new judging and scoring systems for figure skating. The 1997 competition was used as the test event for the switch from the ordinal system, the 2002 event was used for an initial test of the ISU Judging System which was then under development, and the 2003 event was the first competition where that system was used to determine the official results. [1] The 2006 event was used for a trial of using separate panels of judges for technical elements and program components. The competition also serves as a testing ground for judges working towards international status. [1]
The 2009 competition was used as the final qualifying opportunity for the 2010 Winter Olympics and the 2013 event served the same purpose for the 2014 Olympics and the 2018 Olympics. [1] The Nebelhorn Trophy became part of the ISU Challenger Series in the 2014–15 season.
Blue Swords is an international figure skating competition organized by the Deutsche Eislauf-Union. It is usually held in Chemnitz, Saxony, Germany. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance. Champions of the event win the Blue Swords Trophy.

Peter Liebers is a German former competitive figure skater. He is the 2015 Winter Universiade champion, the 2010 Nebelhorn Trophy bronze medalist, the 2012 Ice Challenge champion, and a six-time German national champion. He placed eighth at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and as high as sixth at the European Championships.
Bruno Massot is a French-German pair skating coach and former competitor. Competing with Aljona Savchenko for Germany, he is the 2018 Olympic Champion, the 2018 World Champion, a two-time European silver medalist, and two-time German national champion.
Paul Fentz is a retired German figure skater. He has won four senior international medals and is a four-time German national champion. He has competed in the final segment at eight ISU Championships.
Nathalie Weinzierl is a German figure skater. She is a two-time German national champion and has won eleven senior international medals, including gold at the Bavarian Open, Dragon Trophy, and Egna Trophy, and Merano Cup. She has placed as high as 7th at the European Championships and competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
Maurizio Zandron is an Italian-born figure skater who currently competes for Austria; he previously represented Italy until 2018. He is the winner of several medals in international competition, including gold at the 2016 Denkova-Staviski Cup, 2018 Bavarian Open, and 2018 Sofia Trophy. Additionally, Zandron is a five-time Austrian national champion.
Ruben Blommaert is a retired Belgian-born German pair skater. With his skating partner, Alisa Efimova, he is the 2022 Grand Prix of Espoo silver medalist.
Phillip Harris is a British former figure skater. He is a three-time British national champion and has qualified for the free skate at four ISU Championships.
Annika Maria Hocke is a German pair skater. With her skating partner, Robert Kunkel, she is the 2023 European bronze medalist, the 2023 Skate America champion, 2022 Grand Prix de France bronze medalist, and has won five medals on the ISU Challenger Series, including gold at the 2022 CS Finlandia Trophy. They won two bronze medals on the 2019–20 ISU Junior Grand Prix series. Domestically they are the 2023 German national champions.
Panagiotis "Joti" Polizoakis is a German ice dancer and choreographer. He is a three-time German national champion (2016–2018) and has finished 16th at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games.
Tim Dieck is a German competitive ice dancer. With his former skating partner Katharina Müller, he is a two-time German national champion and has won many senior international medals, including two silver medals on the ISU Challenger Series and three gold medals at the German NRW Trophy. They have represented Germany at the European and World championships. In December 2022, it was announced that Dieck had teamed up with British-Spanish ice dancer Olivia Smart.
Yura Min is a Korean-American ice dancer who skates with Daniel Eaton for South Korea, with whom she is the 2020 Korean National Champion. With former partner Alexander Gamelin, she is a two-time South Korean national champion. They finished seventh at the 2018 Four Continents Championships and participated in the 2018 Winter Olympics at Pyeongchang, South Korea.
Erich Reifschneider is a former competitive figure skater who represented West Germany. He is the 1971 Nebelhorn Trophy champion and a three-time national champion (1973–75). He competed at five ISU Championships; his best result, 12th, came at the 1973 Europeans in Cologne and 1974 Europeans in Zagreb. He works as a doctor in Florstadt.
Minerva Fabienne Hase is a German pair skater. With her current partner, Nikita Volodin, she is the 2023–24 Grand Prix Final champion, a two-time ISU Grand Prix gold medalist and two-time ISU Challenger Series medalist.
Nolan Seegert is a German retired pair skater. With his skating partner, Minerva Fabienne Hase, he was the 2019 Rostelecom Cup bronze medalist, 2021 CS Nebelhorn Trophy champion, and three-time German national champion. The pair represented Germany at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
Lyudmila Vyacheslavovna Koblova is a Russian former pair skater who competed for the Soviet Union. With her skating partner, Andrei Kalitin, she won seven international medals, including gold at the 1985 Nebelhorn Trophy and bronze at the 1986 Skate America.
