Mark Lakers ran unopposed in the Democratic primary, but dropped out in July 2010. Attorney Mike Meister was chosen as a replacement. As of 2022, this was the last time Lancaster County voted for the Republican candidate. As of 2023, this is the last time that the winner of the Nebraska gubernatorial election carried all counties in Nebraska.
