Bridgend is a county borough in southern Wales, UK. The county borough has a total population of 139,200 people, and contains the town of Bridgend, after which it is named. Its members of the National Assembly for Wales are Carwyn Jones AM, the former First Minister of Wales and Huw Irranca-Davies AM representing the Ogmore Constituency, and its Members of Parliament are Madeleine Moon and Chris Elmore.
The Borough of Ogwr was one of six districts of Mid Glamorgan in Wales, which existed from 1974 to 1996.
Ogmore Castle is a Grade I listed castle ruin located near the village of Ogmore-by-Sea, south of the town of Bridgend in Glamorgan, South Wales. It is situated on the south bank of the River Ewenny and the east bank of the River Ogmore.
Tusker Rock, is a rock in the Bristol Channel, about 2 miles (3.2 km) west of Ogmore-by-Sea, Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. It is suggested that it takes its name from Tuska the Viking, a Dane whose fellow Vikings semi-colonised the Vale of Glamorgan.
Alternately the name might derive simply from the Old Norse tu (large) skar (rock).
Ogmore-by-Sea is a seaside village in St Brides Major community in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. Ogmore river probably takes its name from the large caves on the seashore by the river mouth, ogof being the Welsh word for cave. It lies on the western limit of the Glamorgan Heritage Coast of south Wales.
Merthyr Mawr is a village and community in Bridgend, Wales. The village is about 2½ miles from the centre of Bridgend town. The population of the community at the 2011 census was 267. The community occupies the area west of the Ewenny River, between Bridgend and Porthcawl. It takes in the settlement of Tythegston and a stretch of coastal sand dunes known as Merthyr Mawr Warren. It is in the historic county of Glamorgan.

The Ewenny River is a small river in south Wales with a length of ten miles or sixteen kilometres. For most of its length it forms the border between the counties of the Vale of Glamorgan and Bridgend. It is a major tributary of the River Ogmore, which it joins over a mile upstream from the sea.
The Afon Alun is a river in the Vale of Glamorgan, south Wales. It is a small river, with a length of 4.5 miles, or 7 kilometres. Its source is just north of Llandow village, where two streams known as the Stembridge Brook and Llandow Brook converge. It is a tributary of the Ewenny River.
Southerndown Coast is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) in St Brides Major community, in the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales. It forms part of the Glamorgan Heritage Coast, bordered by the Monknash Coast to the southeast. The nearby villages are Southerndown and Ogmore-by-Sea. The SSSI extends over 5 kilometres of south-west facing coastline, with rocky limestone cliffs, broad beaches and deeply fissured wave-cut platforms.
The B4265 road is a main road in the Vale of Glamorgan, southeastern Wales, running in a northwesterly direction along near the coast. It links Cardiff Airport to Bridgend, lasting for 15.9 miles (25.6 km). The road begins at the roundabout near the airport and the village of Penmark at 51°24′21″N 3°20′39″W as a continuation of the A4226 road leading from Barry. Passing the junction turnoff to Gileston and St Athan, at Llantwit Major, the B4270 road branches off to the northwest to Llandow Industrial Estate. The road then moves progressively in northwesterly direction until St Brides Major, where the B4524 road to the south connects it to Southerndown and Ogmore-by-Sea. At St Brides Major, the road shifts to a northerly direction, where it passes Ewenny and Ogmore village leading to Bridgend, where it joins the A48 road and finally A473 road at 51°30′7″N 3°34′34″W.
Ogmore Valley is a community in the Bridgend County Borough, Mid Glamorgan, Wales. Made up of the villages of Nantymoel, Ogmore Vale, Price Town and Wyndham, its population at the time of the 2001 census was 7,800, increasing to 7,954 at the 2011 Census. The ribbon housing of the valley follows the Ogwr Fawr tributary which rises at Craig Ogwr and joins the Ogwr Fach at Blackmill.
Portobello House is a building on the bank of the River Ogmore, about half a mile up from the sea, near the estuary at Ogmore-by-Sea, western Vale of Glamorgan, southeast Wales, on the country border with Bridgend County Borough. It is accessed off the B4524 road.
St Brides Major is a community on the western edge of the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales. Its largest settlement is the village of St Brides Major, and also includes the villages of Ogmore-by-Sea and Southerndown, and the hamlets of Ogmore Village, Castle-upon-Alun, Heol-y-Mynydd, Norton and Pont-yr-Brown It is notable for coastal geology and scenery, limestone downlands and fossilised primitive mammals, sea cliffs and beaches, two Iron Age hillforts, three medieval castle sites,, two stepping stone river crossings and a clapper bridge. Three long distance paths cross the community. It is the western limit of the Vale of Glamorgan Heritage Coast, and has a visitor centre and tourist facilities.
Gwalia Stores is a retail premises originally built at Ogmore Vale, Glamorgan, in 1880 and currently located at St Fagans National History Museum, Cardiff, Wales.
Lewistown is a small community in South Wales. It lies between Ogmore Vale and Blackmill in the valley of the River Ogmore. The town developed to service the local coal mines which have all now closed and it has become largely a commuter village for Bridgend and Maesteg. Lewistown is home to European Pool Champion Lewis Hughes, who has not been seen in the area for quite some time, but his skills on the table are second to none, and recognised across the globe.
Oldcastle is an area and electoral ward of the town of Bridgend, Wales, to the south of the town centre. The ward elects councillors to Bridgend Town Council and Bridgend County Borough Council.
