The Omaha Supernovas are a professional indoor volleyball team based in Omaha, Nebraska. The team competes in the Pro Volleyball Federation (PVF). The Supernovas began play in the league's inaugural 2024 season. The team plays their home games at CHI Health Center Omaha.
On April 12, 2023, Omaha was announced as one of the cities to get a Pro Volleyball Federation franchise for the league's inaugural season, led by an ownership group headed by Omaha businessman Danny White and R&B/pop singer Jason Derulo. [1] The Supernovas name, logo and colors were announced on July 20. [2]
The first match of the Supernovas’ season and the inaugural Pro Volleyball Federation game was played on January 24, 2024, at home. In a 5-set match, the Supernovas lost to the Atlanta Vibe by a score of 26–24, 25–23, 25–17, 25–19, 15–13. [3] The attendance mark of 11,624 set a record for both a women's professional volleyball match in the United States, and in the Pro Volleyball Federation.
The previous attendance record for a women's professional volleyball match in the United States was 10,213 fans, at an Olympic qualifier on January 9, 2016. The contest, held at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska, was a 3–0 U.S. Women's National Team victory over the Dominican Republic. It concluded the NORCECA Olympic Qualification Tournament and earned the United States a berth in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. [4]
The Omaha Supernovas have announced head coach Shelton Collier will serve as an Advisor to the Organization and named assistant coach Laura “Bird” Kuhn as the interim Head Coach. Additionally, former Creighton volleyball standout, Jazz Schmidt joins the Supernovas’ coaching staff as an assistant coach and operations assistant.
Omaha would go on and break their own attendance record a few more times throughout the 2024 season setting the current mark at 12,090. The Supernovas now hold four of the top five U.S. attendance records. [5]

Pro Volleyball Federation announced that its first championship will take place in Omaha, Nebraska. The semifinals on May 15, 2024, and title match on May 18 will take place at the CHI Health Center and be broadcast nationally on CBS Sports Network. The players from the winning team will be awarded a $1,000,000 bonus. [10]

The Nebraska Cornhuskers are the intercollegiate athletic teams that represent the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. The university is a member of the Big Ten Conference and competes in NCAA Division I, fielding twenty-four varsity teams in fifteen sports. Nineteen of these teams participate in the Big Ten, while rifle is a member of the single-sport Patriot Rifle Conference and beach volleyball and bowling compete as independents. Eric Eugene Crouch is an American former college football player who was a quarterback for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He won the Heisman Trophy, Walter Camp Award, and Davey O'Brien Award in 2001. Running Nebraska's option offense that year, he completed 105 of 189 passes for 1,510 yards and seven touchdowns, while also rushing for 1,115 yards and 18 touchdowns. He had brief stints playing professionally in the Canadian Football League (CFL) and United Football League (UFL).
The Bob Devaney Sports Center is a sports complex on the campus of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in Lincoln, Nebraska. The 8,309-seat arena opened in 1976 and serves as the primary home venue for several of Nebraska's athletic programs. The complex is named for Bob Devaney, who served as Nebraska's football coach from 1962 to 1972 and athletic director from 1967 to 1992.

Bethania de la Cruz de Peña is a volleyball player from the Dominican Republic, currently playing for the Omaha Supernovas of the Pro Volleyball Federation. She is best known for winning the gold medal with the Dominican women's national team at the 2009 NORCECA Championship and the 2010 Pan-American Cup.
The Omaha Mavericks men's ice hockey team, also called the Nebraska Omaha Mavericks and UNO Mavericks, is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college ice hockey program that represents the University of Nebraska Omaha. The Mavericks are a member of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC). They play home games at Baxter Arena, an on-campus facility that opened in 2015. The Mavericks hockey program was started in 1997; the team has qualified for the NCAA tournament on four occasions, in 2006, 2011, 2015, and 2021. During the 2015 tournament, the team made their first appearance in the tournament semifinals, branded by the NCAA as the Frozen Four. The Mavericks competed in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) between 1999 and 2010 before joining the WCHA for the 2010–11 season. The Mavericks joined the National Collegiate Hockey Conference starting in the 2013–14 season along with fellow charter members Colorado College, the University of Denver, Miami University, the University of Minnesota Duluth, and the University of North Dakota, plus invited founding members St. Cloud State University and Western Michigan University.
TeTori "Tori" Elsie Dixon is an American indoor volleyball player for the Omaha Supernovas of the Pro Volleyball Federation. She is best known for being part of the United States national team that won the 2014 World Championship gold medal.

The 2020 NCAA Division I women's volleyball tournament began on April 14, 2021, and concluded on April 24 at the CHI Health Center Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska. The tournament field was announced on April 4, 2021. Typically held in the fall, this edition of the tournament was held in the spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Nebraska–Penn State volleyball rivalry is a college women's volleyball rivalry between the Cornhuskers of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and the Nittany Lions of Pennsylvania State University. Both programs are among the most successful in the history of NCAA Division I women's volleyball. Prior to 2011, the teams competed frequently as out-of-conference opponents and met nine times in the NCAA tournament. Leketor Member-Meneh is an American professional volleyball player who plays as an outside hitter for the Atlanta Vibe of the Pro Volleyball Federation. She played collegiately at the University of Missouri and University of Pittsburgh, where she was an All-American in 2021.
