Potosí is a capital city and a municipality of the Department of Potosí in Bolivia. It is one of the highest cities in the world at a nominal 4,090 metres (13,420 ft). For centuries, it was the location of the Spanish colonial mint.
Tomás Frías is a province in the northern parts of the Bolivian Potosí Department. Its capital is Potosí which is also the capital of the department. The province is named after the former president Tomás Frías Ametller.
Cerro Rico, Cerro Potosí or Sumaq Urqu is a mountain in the Andes near the Bolivian city of Potosí. Cerro Rico, which is popularly conceived of as being "made of" silver ore, was famous for providing vast quantities of silver for Spain during the period of the New World Spanish Empire. It is estimated that eighty-five percent of the silver produced in the central Andes during this time came from Cerro Rico. As a result of mining operations in the mountain, the city of Potosí became one of the largest cities in the New World.
Chayanta is a province in the northern parts of the Bolivian Potosí Department. Its capital is Colquechaca.
The General Sánchez Cerro Province is the smallest of three provinces in the Moquegua Region of Peru. The capital of the province is Omate. The province was named after the former Peruvian army officer and president Luis Miguel Sánchez Cerro.
The LlanganucoLakes, Chinancocha and Orconcocha, are situated in the Cordillera Blanca in the Andes of Peru. They are located in Ancash Region, Yungay Province, Yungay District, about 25 km north-east of Yungay. The lakes are part of Huascarán National Park.
Chaupi Orco or Viscachani is a mountain in the Andes on the border of Bolivia and Peru. It has a height of 6,044 metres (19,829 ft). On the Bolivian side it is located in the La Paz Department, Franz Tamayo Province, Pelechuco Municipality, and on the Peruvian side it lies in the Puno Region, Putina Province, Sina District. It lies north of Salluyu.
Potosí Municipality is the capital municipality of the Tomás Frías Province in the Potosí Department in Bolivia. Its seat is Potosí which is the capital of the department as well.
Yocalla Municipality is the second municipal section of the Tomás Frías Province in the Potosí Department in Bolivia. Its seat is Yocalla.
Jayaq Mayu is a Bolivian river in the Potosí Department, Tomás Frías Province, in the south of Potosí. It originates on the west side of the mountain Cerro Rico or P'utuqsi Urqu located in the Potosí Municipality. Then it flows in a north west direction until meeting Agua Dulce River in the Yocalla Municipality. This river shortly afterwards forms the Tarapaya River at its confluence with Ribera de la Vera Cruz. Jayaq Mayu belongs to the Pillku Mayu drainage basin.
Khunurana is a mountain in the Andes of Bolivia located about 20 km south of Potosí in the Potosí Department in the north of the José María Linares Province. It is the highest peak in the Potosí mountain range rising up to 5,071 m (16,637 ft).
Jatun Kunturiri is a mountain in the Potosí mountain range of the Bolivian Andes, about 5,008 m (16,430 ft) high. It is situated south-east of Potosí in the Potosí Department, José María Linares Province, in the south-west of the Puna Municipality. It lies between the Sip'uruni River in the north and the Khunurana in the south, north-west of the lake T'ala Qucha and the village Talaco.
Orccococha is a lake in Peru located in the Cusco Region, Chumbivilcas Province, Velille District. It is situated at a height of about 4,430 metres (14,534 ft), about 1.33 km long and 0.47 km at its widest point. Orccococha lies south-east of Velille and south of the lake Querquecocha.
Sinqa is a 4,423-metre-high (14,511 ft) mountain in the Andes of Peru northwest of the city of Cusco. It lies in the Cusco Region, Cusco Province, Cusco District, and in the Anta Province, Cachimayo District.
Jach'a Q'awa is a 4,718-metre-high (15,479 ft) mountain in the Cordillera de los Frailes in the Andes of Bolivia. It is situated in the Potosí Department, Tomás Frías Province, Tinguipaya Municipality, north of the Pillku Mayu. It lies southeast of the village of Janq'u Laqaya (Jankho Lacaya) and the mountain named Janq'u Laqaya (Jhanco Lacaya) and northwest of Pari Chata.
Waraqu Urqu is an archaeological site in the Ayacucho Region in Peru. The Chanka site lies in the La Mar Province, in the west of the Anco District, near Sacha Raqay (Sacharajay, Sacharaccay). It is situated at a height of about 3,852 m (12,638 ft).
Jatunchungara is a 5,287-metre-high (17,346 ft) mountain in the Chila mountain range in the Andes of Peru. It is located in the Arequipa Region, Caylloma Province, on the border of the districts of Caylloma and Sibayo. It lies north of Chungara and Mesa Chungara. There is a small lake north of the mountain named Chungara.
Saxa Q'awa is a mountain in the Wansu mountain range in the Andes of Peru, about 5,000 metres (16,404 ft) high. It is situated in the Arequipa Region, Condesuyos Province, Cayarani District. Saxa Q'awa lies south of Janq'u Q'awa between the Puma Ranra valley in the west and a lake name Anqasqucha in the east.
Chuqi Warani is a 5,388-metre-high (17,677 ft) mountain in Bolivia. It is located in the Potosí Department, Antonio Quijarro Province, Tomave Municipality. It lies southwest of the Jatun Mundo Quri Warani volcano. In the map of the Bolivian Instituto Geográfico Militar the term Chaupi Mundo is added under Cerro Choquehuarani. This may be an alternate name or a supplement.
T'ula Qullu is a mountain in the Bolivian Andes which reaches a height of approximately 4,560 m (14,960 ft). It is located in the Potosí Department, Tomás Frías Province, Potosí Municipality. It lies southwest of Cerro Rico and east of Qutaña Qullu.
