Plenti was an American rewards program created by American Express in 2015; the program ended in 2018. Plenti enabled users to earn points at one retailer and use them at another retailer enrolled in the program.
Plenti launched on May 4, 2015. It allowed shoppers to earn rewards through a variety of purchases. Unlike other loyalty programs such as supermarket loyalty programs, Plenti was not tied to a single company or credit card issuer. Users could join for free and did not have to be American Express cardholders. [1]
Plenti was part of American Express' push to broaden its reach following the loss of its exclusive deals with Costco (which switched to Citi and Visa) and JetBlue (switching to Barclays and MasterCard). [2] [3]
When 2017 ended, Direct Energy, Hulu, Nationwide, Enterprise, Alamo, and Expedia left Plenti. On January 31, 2018, Macy's and Chili's announced that they were leaving Plenti. [4]
An online marketplace where users could earn Plenti points through online retailers such as Walmart, Sam's Club, Target, Home Depot, Lowe's, and Under Armour was available from May 2015 through March 15, 2018. A member would log into the marketplace and then be directed to the desired retailer's website, thereby earning points for their account. At least one point was earned per $1 spent.
On April 16, 2018, Plenti confirmed that the program would end on July 10, 2018; it suspended new account sign-ups effective immediately.

Upon the announcement that rival drugstore chain Walgreens would purchase some Rite Aid stores, Walgreens said there would be no immediate changes to Rite Aid's loyalty program Wellness+. Walgreens' rewards program never was integrated into Plenti. [7]
Following AT&T's finalization of its purchase of DirecTV two months after the launch of Plenti, DirecTV became a Plenti partner through its ownership by AT&T, but only through the bundling of DirecTV and AT&T's existing services; DirecTV as a standalone service wasn't a Plenti partner. On November 1, 2017, AT&T discontinued its Plenti partnership. [8] [9]
A loyalty program is a marketing strategy designed to encourage customers to continue to shop at or use the services of a business associated with the program. A loyalty program typically involves the operator of a particular program set up an account for a customer of a business associated with the scheme, and then issue to the customer a loyalty card which may be a plastic or paper card, visually similar to a credit card, that identifies the cardholder as a participant in the program. Cards may have a barcode or magstripe to more easily allow for scanning, although some are chip cards or proximity cards.

Thrifty PayLess Holdings, Inc. was a pharmacy holding company that owned the Thrifty Drugs and PayLess Drug Stores chains in the western United States. The combined company was formed in April 1994 when Los Angeles–based TCH Corporation, the parent company of Thrifty Corporation and Thrifty Drug Stores, Inc., acquired the Kmart subsidiary PayLess Drug Stores Northwest, Inc. At the time of the merger, TCH Corporation was renamed Thrifty PayLess Holdings, Inc. and Thrifty operated 495 stores, PayLess operated 543 stores.
Human rights violations in Aceh, Indonesia occurred in the late 1990s and early 2000s when ExxonMobil hired Indonesian military units to guard their Arun gas field, and these military units raided and razed local villages. Government inquiries have extensively documented these abuses. Victims allege that ExxonMobil knew about the atrocities, which include assault, torture, and murder, and should be liable for them. The company denies these accusations; its primary defense is that the human rights violations which were occurring were not a result of specific intention of the organization and therefore it cannot be held liable.

Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc. (WBA) is an American multinational holding company headquartered in Deerfield, Illinois, which owns the retail pharmacy chains Walgreens in the US and Boots in the UK, as well as several pharmaceutical manufacturing and distribution companies. The company was formed on December 31, 2014, after Walgreens bought the 55% stake in Alliance Boots that it did not already own. The total price of the acquisition was $4.9 billion in cash and 144.3 million common shares with fair value of $10.7 billion. Walgreens had previously purchased 45% of the company for $4.0 billion and 83.4 million common shares in August 2012 with an option to purchase the remaining shares within three years. Walgreens became a subsidiary of the newly created company after the transactions were completed. As of 2022, Walgreens Boots Alliance is ranked #18 on the Fortune 500 rankings of the largest United States corporations by total revenue.
Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee bin Wan Ariffin is a Malaysian businessman; the chairman of Malaysia Airlines and former president and CEO of Petronas. In 2021, he was appointed a member of the ExxonMobil board of directors, becoming the first non-American appointed to the board. He was ousted four months later during shareholder votes.

The membership is free to join, and guests are given 5 points for every dollar spent at hotels in the network. It is the largest points-based loyalty reward program for independent hotels in North America. The company was founded in 2010 and is based in Palo Alto, California.
ExxonMobil, an American multinational oil and gas corporation presently based out of Texas, has had one of the longest histories of any company in its industry. A direct descendant of John D. Rockefeller's Standard Oil, the company traces its roots as far back as 1886 to the founding of the Vacuum Oil Company, which would become part of ExxonMobil through its own merger with Mobil during the 1930s. The present name of the company comes from a 1999 merger of Standard Oil's New Jersey and New York successors, which adopted the names Exxon and Mobil respectively throughout the middle of the 20th century. Because of Standard Oil of New Jersey's ownership over all Standard Oil assets at the time of the 1911 breakup, ExxonMobil is seen by some as the definitive continuation of Standard Oil today.
