Qatar Squash Federation is the national organisation for squash in Qatar.

Squash (sport) racquet sport

Squash is a ball sport played by two (singles) or four players in a four-walled court with a small, hollow rubber ball. The players must alternate in striking the ball with their racquet and hit the ball onto the playable surfaces of the four walls of the court.

Qatar, officially the State of Qatar, is a country located in Western Asia, occupying the small Qatar Peninsula on the northeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula. Whether the sovereign state should be regarded as a constitutional monarchy or an absolute monarchy is disputed. History

Initially, the Qatar Squash Federation was a part of a joint organization formed in 1984 called the Qatari Tennis and Squash Federation. [1] In 1986, Qatar Squash Federation joined the World Squash Federation, Arabian Squash Federation and Asian Squash Federation. The Qatari Squash Federation is one of the founders of the Organization Committee, which was founded in August 1989. [2]

The World Squash Federation (WSF) is the international federation for squash, an indoor racquet sport which was formerly called "squash rackets." The WSF is recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the International Federation (IF) for squash, and is also a member of the SportAccord and the Association of the IOC Recognised International Sports Federations (ARISF).

Asian Squash Federation organization

The Asian Squash Federation was formed on November 29, 1980, at the suggestion of Pakistan and the "First Meeting of Squash Playing Nations of Asia", held in Karachi. The founder members were Bahrain, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand.

It dissociated from the Tennis Federation on 22 January, 2001, when both federations were split into independent entities. [1]

It is also a member of the Secretariat of Arab Red Crescent Societies in Jeddah. It became the first philanthropic organization in Qatar to establish a women's branch in 1982.

Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex

The Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex is a tennis complex in Doha, Qatar. The center is owned and operated by the Qatar Tennis Federation. It is the home venue of the ATP World Tour's Qatar ExxonMobil Open and WTA event Qatar Total Open. It formerly hosted the year-ending WTA Tour Championships in 2008–2010. It has also hosted the tennis and squash competitions at the 2006 Asian Games held in Doha.

Sport in Qatar is primarily centered on football in terms in participation and spectators. Additionally, athletics, basketball, handball, volleyball, camel racing, horse racing, cricket and swimming are also widely practiced. There are currently 11 multi-sports clubs in the country, and 7 single-sports clubs.

The 2012 Qatar Open was a men's tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts. It was the 20th edition of the Qatar Open, and part of the ATP World Tour 250 series of the 2012 ATP World Tour. It took place at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha, Qatar, from January 2 through January 7, 2012. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga won the singles title.

Qatar Classic squash tournament

The Qatar Classic is an annual international squash tournament that takes place in Doha, Qatar in October or November. The event was re-established in 2001. Between 1992 and 1997, the tournament was formerly known as the Qatar International. The tournament features both men and women, the men's event is part of the PSA World Series and the women's event is part of the WSA World Series.

Sultan Khalfan Al-Alawi is a former Qatari professional tennis player. A top junior player in Qatar, runner-up of the International Junior Championships in 1994 and 1995, Khalfan was the most successful member of the Qatar Davis Cup team, playing 59 ties between 1993 and 2009 and compiling a 29–26 record in singles, 19–22 in doubles. He appeared nine times in the Qatar Open draw between 1996 and 2007, losing each time in the first round. Khalfan reached a career-high singles ranking of No. 950 in late 2000.
