Quinney is an unincorporated community in the town of Stockbridge, Calumet County, Wisconsin, United States. [1] It is located along Wisconsin Highway 55 approximately one mile (1 km) north of its southern terminus. The Military Ridge Road ran through the community. Quinney was named for Austin E. and John W. Quinney who were two Mohican brothers who led a group of settlers from New York in the 1820s. [2]

The village of Stockbridge, and the unincorporated communities of Dorns Faro Springs Beach, Dorns Twilight Beach, Kloten, Quinney, Rockaway Beach, and Saint Catherines Bay are located within the town.

Stockbridge Indian Cemetery

The Stockbridge Indian Cemetery is a cemetery north of Stockbridge, Wisconsin. It is located on Moore Road just west of Wisconsin Highway 55. The cemetery was established in 1834 after the Stockbridge Indians moved to the community. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Richard Quinney is an American sociologist, writer, and photographer known for his philosophical and critical approach to crime and social justice. Quinney grew up in Delavan, Wisconsin, after earning his PhD in sociology from the University of Wisconsin, he taught at several universities on the East Coast and in the Midwest. He was awarded the Edwin Sutherland Award in 1984 by the American Society of Criminology for his contributions to criminological theory. He is currently professor emeritus of sociology at Northern Illinois University.
