Mohilary was elected as the Chief of Executive Committee of the Bodoland Territorial Council which comprises thirteen other executive members. At present he is the chairperson of the Bodoland People's Front, Mohilary had been the head of Bodoland Territorial Council since its inception in 2003. He won the third General Assembly Elections 2015 and formed his Government for the third time. Mohilary's third term expired on 27 April 2020 and following the postponement of elections scheduled for 4 April 2020 a result of the global coronavirus pandemic, Bodoland is currently under Governor's rule. Mohilary was the chief of the Bodo Liberation Tigers (BLT) before joining the mainstream politics in 2003.

Biswajit Daimary is an Indian politician from Bharatiya Janata Party. He is current speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly. He represents Assam in Rajya Sabha as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and as a member of the Bodoland People's Front. He was first elected as Member of Assam Legislative Assembly from 2001 to 2006. Later elected as Member of Parliament to Rajya Sabha from 2008 to 2014. He was elected for second term from 2014 to 2020 as a member of Bodoland People's Front and from 2021 as a member of the BJP. In November 2020, Daimary left BPF to join Bharatiya Janata Party before election Bodoland Territorial Council elections. On 21 November 2020, Daimary resigned from the Rajya Sabha. He founded Plain Tribals Council of Assam in 1966 a militant agitation for a separate tribal and indigenous Scheduled Caste communities state called Udayachal under the leadership of Samar Brahma Chowdhury and Narzary, President and General Secretary of PTCA respectively. He was a poet and writer and was teacher at Kokrajhar College.

2015 Bodoland Territorial Council election

The 2015 Bodoland Territorial Council election was held on Wednesday, 8 April 2015 to elect the 3rd council of the Bodoland Territorial Area Districts. All 40 seats in the legislative assembly were set up for election. Bodoland People's Front won the election for the third consecutive term by winning 20 seats and 28.5 percentage of votes. BPF also lost 11 seats in contrast to last election in which they won 31 seats.

United Peoples Party Liberal Political party in India

The United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) is a political party founded in Assam. The party has its headquarters in Kokrajhar Town. The party was actively participated in 2020 Bodoland Territorial Council Election under the presidency of Pramod Boro. Earlier the party was led by former MP Urkhao Gwra Brahma.
