Rashtriya Ulama Council (RUC') is a political party of India formed in 2008.
RUC participated in the 2009 parliamentary elections on five seats. As expected RUC never won any seats. However, they secured approximately 2.25 lakh (225,000) votes, unusually successful for a party that was only five months old. It did not ally with other parties. [1]
RUC participated in the Uttar Pradesh 2012 Assembly election, contesting 100 seats out of 401. As expected, the RUC did not win any seats, but they secured nearly 6 lakh (600,000) votes. [2]
RUC participated in the 2014 elections on a very few seats only citing the reason that they want to stop the fascist forces from coming in to power. The national president of the party Maulana Aamir Rashadi contested election [3] against SP Supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav from Azamgarh and this created a lot of headlines. [4] [5]
RUC had declared 84 candidates [6] but just before 1 month from the elections in a shocking turn of events RUC decided to support BSP [7] to keep away SP [8] and BJP [9] from power and supported the BSP candidates in the elections on rest of the seats. [10]
The Peace Party of India and the Rashtriya Ulama Council (RUC) on announced they would contest the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections together under the banner of United Democratic Alliance.

Amar Singh was an Indian politician from the state of Uttar Pradesh. He was the general secretary of the Samajwadi Party and was a member of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian parliament. On 6 January 2010, he resigned from all the posts of the Samajwadi Party and was later expelled from the party by its chief, Mulayam Singh Yadav, on 2 February 2010.

He was former Cabinet Minister in Yogi Adityanath ministry. He also represented Ghosi in the 15th Lok Sabha, where he was leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party. In 16th Lok Sabha, he was defeated by Harinarayan Rajbhar who represented Bharatiya Janata Party by more than 140,000 votes.
Aamir Rashadi Madni is an Indian politician, cleric and educator. He is a graduate from Madinah University. At present he runs various educational institutions in Azamgarh, Uttar Praesh under the patronage of Jameatur Rashad and also does social work. He is also the founder and national president of a political party Rashtriya Ulama Council (RUC) which has a strong hold specially in Uttar Pradesh and is working in 14 other states of India like Delhi, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Tamil Nadu. The party has participated in general and assembly elections in many of these states.
Mulayam Singh Yadav was an Indian politician, a socialist figure and founder of the Samajwadi Party. Over the course of his political career spanning more than six decades, he served for three terms as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, and also as the Union Minister of Defence in the Government of India. A long-time parliamentarian, he was a seven-time Member of Parliament representing Mainpuri, Azamgarh, Sambhal and Kannauj constituencies in the Lok Sabha, a ten-time member of the Legislative Assembly, member of the Legislative Council and the Leader of Opposition for several times as well. The veteran politician was a prominent figure of his time in Indian Politics, and was often referred to as Netaji and Dhartiputra by party leaders and workers. In 2023, the socialist leader was posthumously conferred with Padma Vibhushan, India’s second highest civilian award by the Government of India.

Once a close associate of Kanshi Ram, he was a founding member of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and was Minister for Health during the state's coalition government of the Samajwadi Party (SP) and BSP in 1993. He quit the BSP to join the SP in 1996, rejoined the BSP around 2009 and in 2015 joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The Mahagathbandhan, or MGB, or simply the Gathbandhan (Alliance), was an anti-Congress, anti-BJP, Indian political alliance formed in the run-up to the 2019 general election under the leadership of two former Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party and Mayawati of the Bahujan Samaj Party, along with Ajit Singh's Rashtriya Lok Dal.
