Ravindra Prabhat (born 5 April 1969) is a Hindi-language novelist, journalist, poet, and short story writer from India. [1]

Early life and education

Prabhat was born on 5 April 1969 in the village of Mahindwara, Sitamarhi, in Bihar India. [2] [3] He was raised and received primary education in Mahindwara. He obtained higher education in geography honours from B. R. Ambedkar Bihar University in Muzaffarpur, He later studied Master of Journalism and Mass Communication (MJMC) from the Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University, Allahabad. [4] [5] [6] [7]

Personal life

According to the Brahmin family culture, he underwent an upanayan initiation at age eleven. He married M. Prabhat, in Bettiah on 18 May 1989. They have a son and two daughters. [8] [9]

Literary career

Prabhat has been writing since 1987 on various subjects. [10] [11] [12] [13] Some of his works have been translated into other languages and published in various literary magazines and anthologies. Prabhat currently serves as chief editor of VatVriksh [14] & Parikalpana Samay [15] (Hindi Magazine).

Writings and style

Prabhat often writes about social issues and human suffering. [16] [17]

Prabhat has written and edited works on Hindi blogging and has also published his writing in the form of a blog. He started blogging in 2007 and has published fiction as well as reviews of other blogs. [18]

Prabhat is a founding member of the Parikalpna Award, a blog literary award in India. [19] It is presented by the magazine Parikalpana Samay and the Non-governmental organization Parikalpnaa. [20] The first Parikalpna Award was presented on 30 April 2011. [21]

Ramavriksha Benipuri was a freedom fighter, Socialist Leader editor and Hindi writer. He was born in a small village named Benipur in Muzaffarpur district in a Bhumihar Brahmin family in the Indian state of Bihar. He had spent nine years in prison for fighting for India's independence. He was the founder of Bihar Socialist Party in 1931 and Congress Socialist Party in 1934. He served as the president of Patna District Congress Committee of Indian National Congress from 1935 to 1937 during the 1937 Indian provincial elections. He was elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (India) from Katra North in 1957. In 1958, he was elected as the Syndicate Member of Bihar University, Muzaffarpur.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Gulab Khandelwal</span> 20th century poet (1924-2017)

Gulab Khandelwal was an Indian poet who wrote poetry in different forms such as Lyrics, Sonnets, Rubais (Quatrains), Dohas (Couplets), Odes, Elegies, Lyrical Ballads, Epics, Poetic Dramas, Ghazals, and Masnavi. He even introduced some of these forms into Hindi literature and, apart from Hindi, has also written poetry in Urdu and English. The span of his poetic language touches upon Sanskrit on one end and Urdu on the other. Gulab Khandelwal died in Ohio on 2 July 2017.

Litterateur and parliamentarian Shankar Dayal Singh was twice elected to the Parliament of India. He was one of the youngest members of the Fifth Lok Sabha, in which he represented the Chatra parliamentary constituency in Bihar. Contesting his maiden Lok Sabha election in 1971, he defeated Smt. Vijaya Raje, the wife of Sri Kamakhya Narayan Singh, Raja of Ramgarh. He was again elected to the upper house, the Rajya Sabha, in 1990 from Bihar.

Laxmi Narayan Sudhanshu (1906–1974) was an Indian writer, litterateur, poet, independent activist and political leader. He won the 1952 Bihar Legislative Assembly election from an assembly seat in Purnia. He also held the post of Speaker of the Bihar Legislative Assembly from 1962 to 1967. Sudhanshu is known for actively participating in the Quit India Movement in 1942. He was imprisoned in Bhagalpur jail by the Britishers.
