Rob Broadfield is an Australian restaurant critic and food writer. He has been described as 'Perth's most eminent food critic'. [1] [2] [3] [4] He was described by the ABC as 'very much the definition of the bon vivant'. [1]

Career

He wrote for The West Australian newspaper between 2006 and 2022. [2] He is now a food writer for WAtoday. [5]

He was the founding editor of the Australian Good Food Guide, an entertainment magazine owned by Seven West Media. [6]

In a 2022 interview discussing his retirement from The West Australian, Rob described the rise of social media influencers as a competitive pressure impacting upon his genre of journalism. Consistent with his paper's editorial policy, his reviews have always been independent; with no payment for reviews. He has criticised the practice of paying influencers in return for reviews. [1]

The Pascall Prize for Arts Criticism, formerly known as the Pascall Prize and then the Walkley-Pascall Award or Walkley-Pascall Award for Arts Criticism, is one of two annual Walkley Arts Journalism prizes awarded by the Walkley Foundation. Gold often chose small, traditional immigrant restaurants for his reviews, although he covered all types of cuisine. In 2007, while writing for the LA Weekly, he became the first food critic to win the Pulitzer Prize for Criticism.

Frank Anthony Bruni is an American journalist and long-time writer for The New York Times. In June 2011, he was named an op-ed columnist for the newspaper. His columns appear twice weekly and he also writes a weekly newsletter. In April 2021, Times Opinion Editor Kathleen Kingsbury announced that Bruni would be stepping down from his role as a columnist and joining Duke University as an endowed professor of journalism in June 2021. After joining Duke, he has continued to write his Times newsletter and remains a contributing opinion writer for the newspaper.

The Trip is a 2010 British television sitcom series and feature film directed by Michael Winterbottom, starring Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon as fictionalised versions of themselves on a restaurant tour of northern England. The series was edited into feature film format and premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2010. The full series was first broadcast on BBC Two and BBC HD in the United Kingdom in November 2010. Both the TV series and film received very positive reviews.
