The school opened in 2005 and completed its second phase of construction in 2010 that included a new fine arts wing, a band hall and a 1500-seat auditorium, and Wilkerson-Sanders stadium. Approved and signed in 2007 during the RISD bond election, it is the most expensive bond in the history of RISD at $198 million. The school bond also included two new schools (Celia Hays Elementary School and Sharon Shannon Elementary School), planning for a third high school, and the conversion of Utley Freshman Center into a middle school.
The first class to graduate from Rockwall-Heath High School was the class of 2008.
Athletics
The baseball team has reached the playoffs with five appearances including three trips the Regional Finals and a number one national ranking in 2010. The baseball team has won two state titles, its first being the 4A State Championship on June 8, 2012 beating Cleburne High School 10–1, and their second being the 6A State Championship on June 12, 2021 beating Keller High School 4-3.
Since the On November 6, 2008, the undefeated Rockwall-Heath High School Varsity football team beat Highland Park High School and claimed the 10-4A district championship title. The team won its first round of playoffs against Frisco Centennial High School and against Hillcrest High School at the Texas Stadium on November 21. The team advanced to the fourth round of playoffs, still undefeated, by beating Ennis High School. Rockwall-Heath was defeated in the quarterfinals by Sulphur Springs. The final record for the 2008 season was 13–1.
Following their first playoff season, The Hawks returned to the post season and were eliminated by Frisco Liberty High School marking a 7–4 season. The 2011 Hawks claimed a spot in the postseason making it their third trip to the playoffs in school history.
In January 2019, Rockwall-Heath had hired historic Texas high school football coach, Mike Spradlin. In his first season, the Hawks finished 5-5.
In the 2020-2021 season, the Rockwall-Heath Varsity football team had seen a 10-4 record. Which would be ended following a 27-24 loss to Cedar Hill in the State Quarterfinals.
In the 2021-2022 season, Heath experienced its best regular season record in recent years, finishing 10-1. The Hawks would go on to face Tomball High School in the Regional Final and lose 35-21.
In December 2021, Football Coach Mike Spradlin announced he would be retiring at the end of the 2022 school year. In January 2022, Rockwall-Heath announced that its assistant head coach, John Harrell, would become the next football coach for the Hawks.
In January 2023, 8 Rockwall-Heath students were hospitalized during an offseason football workout in which players were forced to complete 400 push-ups in a 60-minute period without access to water. Head Coach John Harrell was placed on administrative leave following the incident.[2][3]
As of late, the Heath Cross Country team has undergone much success. The boy’s varsity team has claimed the District 10 Championship multiple years in a row, with newcomers Evan Herrera and Alan Perez leading the charge.
Evan Herrera also holds the school records in the 5k, 3200m, and 1600m races respectively, with blazing times of 15:25, 9:17, and 4:13. This 1600m time landed him one spot short of a Texas 6A state track qualification.
Nicholas Holland, senior captain of the 2023-24 season has also claimed much success. After a series of back and forth races with teammate Evan Martin, he claimed the school record in the 800m dash with a time of 1:56.
The cross country and distance track teams have shown great promise in the past years and are continuing to improve by leaps and bounds.

Donald E. Boven was an American basketball player, coach, and university instructor. He was a World War II veteran who was a standout athlete at Western Michigan University. After playing professional basketball, he served as an instructor at the University for more than 30 years. In the 1980s, Boven retired from his teaching duties but remained active in sporting circles and became involved in voluntary public service in his Michigan township.
Keller High School is a public high school located in the city of Keller, Texas and is served by the Keller Independent School District. The school educates students in the majority of the city of Keller, western Southlake, northwestern Colleyville, northern North Richland Hills, and most of Westlake, including the Vaquero development. It has been recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School for the 1999-2000 school year. As of 2011, Keller High School is rated "recognized" by the Texas Education Agency and is part of one of the largest districts in Texas to have an overall recognized rating. Jeffrey J. Andrews is an American former professional baseball player and current coach. He was the pitching coach for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2008, having been fired after one season at the position. Andrews spent each of the last 22 years as a minor league pitching coach/coordinator, the last five in the Pittsburgh organization. On May 20, 2009, he was hired by the Frisco RoughRiders (AA), replacing Joe Slusarski, marking his return to the Texas Rangers organization.

Del Valle High is a public high school located on the southeast side of El Paso, Texas. DV, as it is commonly called, is part of the Ysleta Independent School District, serving 2,000 students in grades 9 to 12. At the start of the 2022 academic year, Ivan Cedillo was appointed principal of Del Valle High School. The TEA association classifies Del Valle as a "recognized school" as of 2011.
The Texas Legends are an American professional basketball team in the NBA G League based in Frisco, Texas, and are affiliated with the Dallas Mavericks. The Legends play their home games at the Comerica Center. The team began as the Colorado 14ers in 2006, before relocating to Frisco in 2009 and becoming the Texas Legends for the 2010–11 season.
