Safilguda lake, originally named as Nadimi Cheruvu (Original Name) and Mini Tank Bund, is a lake located in Safilguda Hamlet, Neredmet Village, Secunderabad, Telangana, India. [1] There is a park adjacent to the lake called Safilguda Lake Park. The lake has a small island called Nadimi Bird Island. It is covered with thick trees, which attract a variety of wildlife, especially migratory birds. [2] Katta Misamma Temple is located on the shoreline of the lake. The road around the lake is similar to the Necklace Road around the "tank bund" on the Hussain Sagar Lake and hence the lake is also called "Mini Tank Bund". The park is a popular attraction for jogging and evening walks. Several movies have been shot at this lake. "Elluvochi Godaramma" song shot at Safilguda lake is a very popular song.

History

The Hyderabad Urban Development Authority restored the lake in 2000 under the Conservation and Restoration Project of Green Hyderabad Environment Programme. [3] It became a popular recreation area for the residents of nearby colonies. Several years later, lake became polluted due to lack of maintenance and negligence of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. [4]

Kolleru Lake is one of the largest freshwater lakes in India located in state of Andhra Pradesh and forms the largest shallow freshwater lake in Asia. 15 kilometers away from the Eluru and 65 km from Rajamahendravaram, the lake is located between the Krishna and Godavari deltas. Kolleru Lake is located in Eluru district. The lake is fed directly by water from the seasonal Budameru and Tammileru streams, and is connected to the Krishna and Godavari irrigation systems by over 67 major and minor irrigation canals. This lake is a major tourist attraction. Many birds migrate here in winter, such as Siberian crane, ibis, and painted storks. The lake was an important habitat for an estimated 20 million resident and migratory birds, including the grey or spot-billed pelican. The lake was declared as a wildlife sanctuary in November 1999 under India's Wildlife Protection Act of 1972, and designated a wetland of international importance in November 2002 under the international Ramsar Convention. The wildlife sanctuary covers an area of 308 km2.

Sainikpuri is a residential neighbourhood in the northeastern part of Hyderabad City. It falls under Kapra mandal of Medchal-Malkajgiri District, and is currently administered under GHMC East Zone. It started as a co-operative housing society venture for retired army personnel, but now has houses which belong to other defence services as well as civilians. Late Brig M. K Rao, Late Brig S.N.Docca and Late Lt. Col. Tiwari Singh were the first few to have got plots in the society and had a vision to develop the colony into an elite area. The housing plots originally allotted to the members of the Sainikpuri co-operative society were of the size of 700–1,000 square yards each. Owing to this reason, most residences have large lawns and gardens. Roads are well laid and numbered. Avenues are lined with a variety of flowering and fruiting trees, and are ideal for morning and evening walks. The sprawling cantonment area, as well as The College of Defence Management (CDM) which is a premier establishment of the Indian armed forces, are in the vicinity of Sainikpuri. The old buildings are now slowly giving way to multi-storied apartments, and it is becoming a costlier affair to acquire living space in this area.

Neredmet currently serves as the headquarters of Rachakonda Police commissionerate, one of the three police commissionerates of Hyderabad City. It was earlier a part of Malkajgiri Municipality, but now it is administered under Malkajgiri Circle of GHMC-Secunderabad Zone. Saroornagar Lake is a lake in Hyderabad, India. From the year of its creation in 1626, the lake remained largely clean until 1956 when Hyderabad expanded. Spread over 99 acres (40 ha), the lake was restored by the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority in 2003–04 at a cost of 200 million (US$2.5 million). After the restoration of the lake, migratory birds returned to the lake in large numbers a few years later.

Mookaneri Lake, also called Kannankurichi Lake, is a lake in Kannankurichi, in the Salem Taluk of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, that covers an area of 23.5 hectares. It is located to the south of the Shevaroy Hills and is a major body of water in Salem. The lake is fed by rainfall, including the hills surrounding Yercaud, which flow into the lake via the Puthu Yeri and Kothukaran Odai streams.
