He gave his name to the 1946 Lamine Guèye law which granted French citizenship to all inhabitants of France's overseas colonies.

If the national league champion also wins the FA cup then the second place club in league 1 competes. The winner of the FA cup qualifies for the continental CAF Confederation Cup.

The sport of football, the most popular sport in Senegal, in the country of Senegal is run by the Senegalese Football Federation. The association administers the national football team, as well as the Premier League. AS Forces Armées, also known as ASFA, is a professional basketball team that is based in Senegal. They play in the Senegalese League. The team has won the Africa Clubs Championship three times, being behind only C.D. Primeiro de Agosto for most continental titles.
