Samuel Crouser (born December 31, 1991) is an American javelin thrower. He is a 2015 alumnus of the University of Oregon.

High school career

While a senior at Gresham High School, Crouser was named Gatorade High School Track and Field Athlete of the Year in 2010. [1] He was also Track and Field News "High School Athlete of the Year." [2] On May 1, 2010, he set the national high school record at 244' 2" (74.42m). This was broken in 2012 by Billy Stanley of South Park, PA. Sam Crouser set American youth record in Gresham, Oregon on 27 June 2010. [3]

Collegiate career

While a senior at University of Oregon, Samuel Crouser won his second national title at 2015 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships. [4] Samuel Crouser won all four Pac-12 Conference Javelin titles (2012, 13, 14, 15).

Professional career

Sam Crouser won US Javelin title at Junior (U20) US Outdoor Track and Field Championships in 2009 with a toss of 67.18 metres (220.4 ft). [5]

He competed javelin at the 2012 Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon. He was ranked #6 in the US three years in a row, 2012 to 2014. [6]

Sam placed 31st in Javelin at 2015 IAAF World Championships in Athletics. [7]

Sam qualified to represent USA in the Javelin at Olympic Trials with a throw of 78.06 metres (256.1 ft). Sam placed 34th in Javelin at 2016 Summer Olympics with a throw of 73.78 metres (242.1 ft).

Personal life

His uncle Brian Crouser competed in the javelin throw at the 1988 and 1992 Summer Olympics. In 2011, cousin Ryan Crouser joined Sam, setting the national high school record in the discus throw for cross town rival Sam Barlow High School. Ryan went on to win the Olympic Gold Medal in the shot put. Then in 2012, sister Haley completed the family trifecta by setting the national high school record in the girl's javelin throw.

Michael Hazle is a United States Olympian and National Champion Mike is also a former United States Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) Combat Controller (CCT). He is a four-time silver medalist at the US outdoor championships (2007–2010), before he claimed his first National Championship in 2011. He also won a silver medal in his category at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Riley Dolezal is an American track and field athlete who competes in the javelin throw. His personal record for the event is 83.50 m and he is the 2013 and 2017 United States Javelin champion. He now works at Horace High School as a gym and health teacher

Alexa Efraimson is an American former professional middle distance runner from Camas, Washington who competed for Nike. Efraimson is training and in graduate school to become a Registered Dietitian in 2022-24. During the 2014 indoor and outdoor season, as a junior, she set a pair of U.S. high-school records, breaking Mary Cain's 2013 mark in the indoor 3,000 meters (9:02.10) with a time of 9:00.16 and running 4:33.29 in the 1,600 meters to shave 0.53 seconds from Christine Babcock's 4:33.82, set in 2008. The 2015 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships were held at Hayward Field, University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon. Organized by USA Track and Field, the four-day competition took place June 25–28 and served as the national championships in track and field for the United States. The event was held in conjunction with the USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Jordan Michael Clarke is an American track and field athlete who specializes in the shot put. He holds a personal record 21.49 m for the event, set in 2015. He was the gold medalist at the 2014 Pan American Sports Festival. Clarke was third at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in 2015.

He set the outdoor world record at 23.56 meters in May 2023, improving upon his previous record of 23.37 m from July 2021. He has held the indoor record of 22.82 m since January 2021.
