LaTanya Sheffield (born October 11, 1963, in El Cajon, California) is a retired hurdler from the United States, who finished in eight place in the women's 400 metres hurdles final at the 1988 Summer Olympics. [1]
The 1985 NCAA champion running for San Diego State University. She won the bronze medal in the same event at the 1987 Pan American Games. Finally after the 2000 Olympic Trials and an illustrious career, LaTanya Sheffield announced her retirement. After retiring, she lived in Tucson, Arizona, working as the head coach of a track team known as "Pops Tracks Club" and at Canyon del Oro High School. She is currently coaching at Long Beach State University. [2]
Sheffield's daughter, Jaide Stepter Baynes, ran for the University of Southern California where she was a three time Pac-12 Conference champion at 400 meters hurdles. She has also competed in several international competitions for the United States. [3] Her brother Rahn is the head coach at her alma mater, San Diego State. [4]
Sheffield was an assistant coach for Women's sprints and hurdles for the United States in 2016 and 2020. [5]
Yolanda Gail Devers is an American retired track and field sprinter who competed in the 60 metres, 60 m hurdles, 100 m and 100 m hurdles. Devers is regarded as one of the greatest and most decorated female sprinters of all time. She was the 1992 and 1996 Olympic 100m champion; the second woman in history to defend an Olympic 100m title. She was also the 1993 world champion in the event, becoming the first ever female sprinter to simultaneously hold the world and Olympic titles in the 100m. She was the 1993, 1997 and 2004 world indoor 60m champion. In the 100 m hurdles, she was the 1993, 1995 and 1999 world champion, and the 1991 and 2001 world silver medalist. In the 60 m hurdles, she was the 2003 world indoor champion and 2004 silver medalist.
Félix Sánchez, is a retired Dominican-American track and field athlete. He is of Dominican descent, was born and raised in the United States, and competed for the Dominican Republic, specializing in the 400 meter hurdles. He is a two-time Olympic gold medallist, winning gold in 2004 and 2012, and was also World Champion in 2001 and 2003. Just before turning 36, he set the Masters M35 World Record with a time of 48.10. Sanchez acquired many nicknames: "Super Felix", "the Invincible", "Superman", and "the Dictator".

She won the 100 m hurdles at the 1971 Pan American Games and held four national outdoor titles in this event, in 1971, 1973–74 and 1977. Van Wolvelaere also won the National Indoor Championships in the 60 yard hurdles six times between 1967 and 1974, including four in a row in 1971–74.
