Samuel Muchnick was an American professional wrestling promoter from St. Louis, Missouri. The Big Event was a professional wrestling special event produced by the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) on August 28, 1986, at Exhibition Stadium in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The event was advertised locally in the July 15 Toronto Star as "Hulkamania" and was promoted as the headlining event of the 1986 Canadian National Exhibition. According to the WWF's Official Magazine, the event drew a total audience of just under 70,000 fans and matched sell-out crowds at Exhibition Stadium previously only drawn by The Who and Bruce Springsteen. Although attendance estimates vary from a paid attendance of 61,470 all the way up to a total attendance of 74,000, sources agree The Big Event set a professional wrestling outdoor attendance record at the time. According to Jim Hunt of the Toronto Sun, The Big Event grossed a reported one million Canadian dollars. Tickets ranged from $20 ringside to $8 further away, with profits from ticket sales alone estimated between $75,000 and $100,000
Robert Louis Backlund is an American retired amateur and professional wrestler. He is best known for his appearances in the World Wide Wrestling Federation/World Wrestling Federation from 1976 to 1984 and in the 1990s, where he held the WWWF/WWF Championship on two occasions. His 2,135-day reign is recognized as the second longest in the championship's history. Backlund was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013.
The War to Settle the Score is a professional wrestling event produced by the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). It took place at Madison Square Garden in New York, New York on February 18, 1985. The main event featured Hulk Hogan defending the WWF World Heavyweight Championship against "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. Hogan retained the title after Piper got disqualified in the only match of the event that was shown on MTV.
The 1994 Halloween Havoc was the sixth annual Halloween Havoc professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by World Championship Wrestling (WCW). It took place on October 23, 1994, from the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan. In 2014, all of WCW's Halloween Havoc PPVs became available on WWE's streaming service, the WWE Network.
