The Fowler College of Business is one of seven academic colleges at San Diego State University (SDSU), located in San Diego, California, United States. The college offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees. On October 26, 2016 the university announced that the college was named the Fowler College of Business in honor of Ron Fowler, co-owner and executive chairman of the San Diego Padres, and his wife Alexis, who is a graduate of the college's Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy. The couple had pledged a $25 million endowment to the college - the largest gift in the university's 119-year history.
The San Diego State University College of Arts & Letters provides liberal arts education at SDSU. The Sycuan Institute on Tribal Gaming at the San Diego State University College of Professional Studies & Fine Arts "focuses," its own words, "on research, policy studies, and education related to the area of tribal gaming management." The history of San Diego State University began in the late 19th century with the establishment of a normal school in San Diego, California. Founded on March 13, 1897, the school opened on November 1, 1898 with a class of 135 students. By 1921, the school had become San Diego State Teachers College, allowing it to grant certificates and degrees. Due to the increased student enrollment, the college was relocated to its current location at the east side of Mission Valley, with classes beginning in February 1931. The government works programs during the Great Depression assisted in construction of numerous buildings on the new campus.

Jonathan Luke Wood, known professionally as J. Luke Wood, is an American social scientist, author, and the Dean's Distinguished Professor of Education at San Diego State University(SDSU). According to "The Black in the Crimson and Black," Wood is the first Black distinguished professor in SDSU history. He is consistent voice on leadership theory and black male achievement in the American community colleges system. Wood is a Professor at San Diego State University and Co-Director of the Community College Equity Assessment Lab (CCEAL), a national research and practice center that partners with community colleges on issues regarding men of color. CCEAL hosts the National Consortium on College Men of Color (NCCMC), a professional development consortium for member community colleges.
