Highways
Shikrapur lies at the junction of the Nagar road, also called NH753F (Pune-Ahmednagar-Aurangabad-Jalgoan Highway), and the Shikrapur-Chakan road, also called NH548D (Talegoan Dabhade-Chakan-Shikrapur-Ahmedpur in latur). The highways to Pune have heavy traffic due to extensive growth in the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) area in Ranjangaon and part of Sanaswadi.
Buses
Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation runs frequent bus service that stops at the city. [8]
Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) also operates buses connecting Shikrapur to Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and other cities. Students, commuters, and other users reach Pune on PMPML Bus No. 159 (Pune MaNaPa to Talegoan Dhamdhere bazar) and PMPML Bus No. 161(Wagholi to Karegaon- Ranjangaon).
Proposed railway project
The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has proposed a railway ring project to connect business hubs in Talegaon Dabhade, Chakan, Shikrapur, and Uruli Kanchan; Sambhaji International Airport at Purandar; and Pune Railway station. The proposed route begins in Talegaon Dabhade, linking the Pune-Miraj and Pune-Nashik rail routes, and would also connect with Metro rail. [9]
PMRDA-contracted Larsen & Toubro created a common minimum programme (CMP) to coordinate a geographical spread of 20 km2. The CMP includes Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), Pune Cantonment Board, Dehu Cantonment Board (DCB) and Khadki Cantonment Board (KCB) and Pune District. Proposed Wagholi-Shikrapur bypass
The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) and the district administration had planned 6-laninng and forming new bypass to mitigate frequent traffic congestion on the stretch connecting Pune, Wagholi and Shikrapur. [11]
The plan involves a proposed bridge of 25 kilometres (16 mi) on State Highway 27, the addition of one lane in each direction, two bypasses and the improvement of crucial junctions. The government has approved ₹6.5 billion for the plan, and it is also part of the union government's Bharatmala project, which allocates ₹12.6 billion for road improvement. However, the project has been pending for many years. [12]
Pimpri-Chinchwad also known as "PCMC", is a city in the Indian state of Maharashtra. Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is the civic body that governs Pimpri-Chinchwad which includes Pimpri, Akurdi, Chinchwad, Nigdi, and the remainder of the northwestern city limits of Pune, India. It was established on 11 October 1982. It governs an area of 181 km2 with a population of 1.72 million. The executive power of the PCMC is vested in the Municipal Commissioner, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer appointed by the Government of Maharashtra. The position is held by Shekhar Singh (IAS) during the pandemic in late December 2020. The general body of the PCMC consists of 128 directly elected councilors, popularly known as "corporators", headed by a mayor. Rahul Jadhav (BJP) was elected as the mayor and Sachin Chinchwade (BJP) as the deputy mayor in August 2018. The PCMC headquarters is situated on the Old Pune Mumbai Highway alongside the freeway in the city of Pune.
Shirur taluka, is a taluka in Haveli subdivision of Pune district of state of Maharashtra in India. The town is situated on the bank of river Ghod and hence it was also known as Ghodnadi in 20th Century. The town is on the border of Pune & Ahmed Nagar District and hence, main trading center for Shirur Taluka as well as Parner Taluka located in Ahmed Nagar District.
State Highway 27 is a state highway from Pune to Ahmednagar in the state of Maharashtra. The highway is the major link between the two cities. Since trains take about 4 hours to cover this distance, people prefer travelling by this highway, by which one can reach Ahmednagar within 2 hours.

Megapolis is an residential township in Pimpri-Chinchwad, India. It is located along the outskirts of Pune, in Hinjawadi. The township is being built at an estimated cost of ₹3,000 crore (US$380 million). It is developed by Pegasus Properties, a joint venture of Kumar Properties and Avinash Bhosale Infrastructure Ltd (ABIL). Work on the project started in early 2007, it was launched in April 2012, and possession of various building and housing projects started in 2013. Some new building clusters are launched in 2018 and 2019.

National Highway 548D, commonly referred to as NH 548D is a national highway in India. It is a spur road of National Highway 48. NH-548D traverses the state Maharashtra in India starting at the Talegaon Junction on NH-48, traveling through the historic town and urban hill station of Talegaon Dabhade. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has approved a 60 Meters, Single Tier, Double floored Elevated Corridor on the 54 km stretch of NH 548 D starting at the junction of NH 48 to Talegaon Dabhade - Chakan - Shikrapur and then merging to the Pune - Shirur Elevated Corridor on NH 753 F, on a toll basis.
