The Sri Lanka men's national cricket team,nicknamed The Lions,represents Sri Lanka in men's international cricket. It is a full Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) with Test,One-Day International (ODI) and T20 International (T20I) status. The team first played international cricket in 1926–27 and became an associate member of the ICC in 1965. They were awarded the Test status in 1981,which made Sri Lanka the eighth Test cricket-playing nation. The team is administered by Sri Lanka Cricket.

The Bangladesh men's national cricket team,popularly known as The Tigers,is administered by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). It played its first Test match in November 2000 against India with a 9 wicket win in Dhaka,becoming the tenth Test-playing nation. It became an associate member of the ICC in 1977,and competed in six ICC Trophies but performed inconsistently until 1997,which marked the year of their first major victory,winning the 1997 ICC Trophy held in Malaysia. This set Bangladesh on its way of becoming a Test-playing nation,a journey which ended with success in the year 2000.
Herath Mudiyanselage Rangana Keerthi Bandara Herath,known as Rangana Herath,is a former Sri Lankan cricketer,who played all forms of cricket game and a former Test cricket captain for Sri Lanka. Herath is the most successful left arm bowler in Test cricket history. He is currently working as spin bowling consultant with the Bangladesh cricket team. Herath was a member of the Sri Lankan team that won the 2014 ICC World Twenty20.
Warushavithana Upul Tharanga,commonly known as Upul Tharanga is a former professional Sri Lankan cricketer. A former limited over captain,Tharanga played for all formats of the game. He is a left-handed opening batsman and occasional wicket-keeper. He is widely regarded as one of the best batsmen in Cricket History for One Day Internationals (ODIs). On 23 February 2021,Upul announced his retirement from international cricket. He is the current national chief selector of both Sri Lanka men's and women's cricket teams.
International cricket in the 2006–07 cricket season is defined by major statisticians,such as CricketArchive and Wisden,as those matches played on tours that started between September 2006 and April 2007. Two major ICC tournaments are scheduled for this season,with the Champions Trophy played in October in India,and the World Cup taking place in West Indies in March. In addition,England will defend the Ashes when they go to Australia in November,and all the ten Test nations will be in action during November and December –though Zimbabwe,who are playing Bangladesh during this time,withdrew from Test matches throughout 2006 and will thus only be playing One-day International matches.
Lokuge Dinesh Chandimal is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer and a former captain of the Sri Lanka national cricket team. A handy right-handed middle order batter who sometimes plays as the wicket-keeper,Chandimal lead Sri Lanka in the group stages of the 2014 ICC World Twenty20 in which Sri Lanka ended up as the champions.

In June 2018,he was named the Men's Cricketer of the Year,Test Cricketer of the Year and the ODI Cricketer of the Year at the annual Cricket West Indies' Awards. The following year,he was named the CWI ODI Player of the Year. He is generally regarded as one of the best ODI batsmen in the contemporary cricketing world. Hope has also twice been named,for both 2020 and 2022,in the ICC ODI Team of the Year.
Kariyawasam Indipalage Charith Asalanka is a Sri Lankan professional cricketer who plays all three formats of the game for the national team and also serves as the vice-captain of the national team in T20I and ODI. Aleft-handed batsman,Asalanka made his international debut for Sri Lanka in June 2021.
Saud Shakeel is a Pakistani international cricketer. He made his international and ODI debut for the Pakistan cricket team in July 2021. He made his Test debut against England in December 2022. He played at the 2014 U-19 World Cup,where he captained the team. In July 2023,he became the first Pakistani batsman to score a Test double century in Sri Lanka against the hosts.
The 2016–2017 international cricket season was from September 2016 to April 2017. During this period,41 Test matches,87 One Day Internationals (ODIs),43 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is),4 first class matches,16 List A matches,41 Women's One Day Internationals (WODIs),and 15 Women's Twenty20 Internationals (WT20Is) were played. Of the 41 Test matches that took place in this season,3 were day/night Test matches. The season started with Pakistan leading the Test cricket rankings,Australia leading the ODI rankings,New Zealand leading the Twenty20 rankings,and Australia women leading the Women's rankings.
Asitha Madusanka Fernando is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer currently plays all three formats of the game as the frontline bowler.
The Zimbabwe cricket team toured Sri Lanka in June and July 2017 to play one Test match and five One Day Internationals (ODIs). Originally,the schedule was for two Test matches and three ODIs. It was Zimbabwe's first tour of Sri Lanka since January 2002. All the matches were played as day games.
Mohammad Shoriful Islam is a Bangladeshi cricketer. He made his international debut for the Bangladesh cricket team in March 2021.
Abdullah Shafique is a Pakistani international cricketer who plays for the Pakistan national cricket team across all formats. A right-handed top-order batter,he also plays for Lahore Qalandars in the PSL and previously played for Central Punjab and Balochistan in Pakistan's domestic cricket.
The 2020 international cricket season took place from May to September 2020. 15 Test matches,49 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 40 Twenty20 International (T20Is) were scheduled to be played during this period,as well as 8 Women's One Day Internationals (WODIs) and 9 Women's Twenty20 Internationals (WT20Is). Additionally,a number of other T20I/WT20I matches were also scheduled to be played in minor series involving associate nations. The season started with Australia leading the Test cricket rankings,England leading the ODI rankings and Australia leading the Twenty20 rankings.
