Shri Sumit Kumar Singh (born c. 1981) [1] [2] is an Indian politician who is an independent Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) and currently serving as the Minister of Science and Technology in the Government of Bihar. [1] [3] Singh was elected to the Chakai Assembly constituency in 2010 as a Jharkhand Mukti Morcha candidate [4] in 2020 as an independent. [2] He was state president of the Lok Janshakti Party in 2005 and was previously a youth leader.[ citation needed ]
His father Narendra Singh,and grandfather,Shrikrishna Singh,were also ministers in Bihar and part of the Chakai Assembly. His two brothers were also MLAs. [5] [4]

Ram Vilas Paswan was an Indian politician from Bihar and the Cabinet Minister of Consumer Affairs,Food and Public Distribution in the first and second Modi ministries. Paswan was also the president of the Lok Janshakti Party,nine-times Lok Sabha member and two-time Rajya Sabha MP. He started his political career as member of Samyukta Socialist Party and was elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly in 1969. Later,Paswan joined Lok Dal upon its formation in 1974,and became its general secretary. He opposed the emergency,and was arrested during this period. Nitish Kumar is an Indian politician who has served as the 22nd chief minister of Bihar since 22 February 2015,having previously held the office from 2005 to 2014 and for a short period in 2000. He is Bihar's longest serving chief minister,and also holding the post for 9th term.

There was a political crisis in Bihar state of India during February 2015 over the post of the Chief Minister of Bihar. Incumbent Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi did not vacate the post for former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar,who wanted to return,resulting in a split in the political party,JD(U). After days,the Governor asked Manjhi to prove majority in house by trust vote. Manjhi quit the post on day of vote and later Nitish Kumar took oath as chief minister again on 22 February 2015 ending the crisis.
Supreme Court of India,in its judgement dated 10 July 2013 while disposing the Lily Thomas v. Union of India case,ruled that any Member of Parliament (MP),Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) or Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) who is convicted of a crime and given a minimum of two years' imprisonment,loses membership of the House with immediate effect. This is in contrast to the earlier position,wherein convicted members held on to their seats until they exhausted all judicial remedy in lower,state and supreme court of India. Further,Section 8(4) of the Representation of the People Act,which allowed elected representatives three months to appeal their conviction,was declared unconstitutional by the bench of Justice A. K. Patnaik and Justice S. J. Mukhopadhaya.

Nadda is an Indian lawyer and politician serving as the 11th national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) since 2020 and the member of the Rajya Sabha representing Gujarat since 2024. Upendra Kumar Singh,commonly known as Upendra Kushwaha is an Indian politician,and a former Member of Bihar Legislative Council and Bihar Legislative Assembly. He has also served as Minister of State for Human Resources and Development in the Government of India. Kushwaha is a former Member of Parliament (MP) from the Karakat constituency in Rohtas district,Bihar,and a former member of the Rajya Sabha. He was the leader of Rashtriya Samata Party (RSP),his own party,which merged into Janata Dal (United) (JDU) in 2009. Later,he formed Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP),which also merged with JD(U) in 2021. On 20 February 2023,Kushwaha resigned from all positions in Janata Dal (United) and formed his own party called Rashtriya Lok Morcha due to his political problems with JD(U) and Nitish Kumar.
Santosh Kumar is an Indian politician and Member of Parliament representing the Purnia constituency in Bihar. He was first elected in the 2014 Indian general election,having run as the Janata Dal (United) candidate in the constituency. In 2010 he was also elected as Member of Legislative assembly of the Baisi of Purnea district as a Bharatiya Janata Party candidate. One month before 2014 lok sabha election he joined JD(U) as he was nominated as the party candidate for Lok Sabha election for Purnea constituency.

Brij Behari Prasad,also spelled Brij Bihari Prasad was an Indian politician. A member of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD),Prasad served as Minister for Science and Technology in the Government of Bihar. He was arrested for alleged involvement in corrupt admissions to technical institutes and was murdered on 13 June 1998 at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences in Patna,where he was undergoing treatment. It was claimed that his death was in retribution for his involvement in assassination of gangster Chhottan Shukla and five other people,who were killed on 4 December 1994,while returning home from a campaign organised in context of 1995 Bihar Legislative Assembly elections. Shukla was a gangster from the Bhumihar community,whereas Prasad was a Bania. Supporters of Prasad were thought to be responsible for the killing of Shukla.

In 2014,Samrat planned a split in Rashtriya Janata Dal by defecting thirteen MLAs as splinter group of the party,later joining the BJP. In 2022,he was selected as the Leader of Opposition in Bihar Legislative Council.
