The Switzerland cricket team toured Luxembourg in June 2022 to play two Twenty20 International (T20I) matches at the Pierre Werner Cricket Ground in Walferdange. [1] A friendly match was played the following day after the T20Is. [2] [3] The series provided both sides with preparation for the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Europe sub-regional qualifier tournaments. [4] [5]

The Belgium national cricket team is the team that represents Belgium in international cricket. The team is organised by the Belgian Cricket Federation, which has been an associate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) since 2005. Belgium played its first international match in 1910, in an exhibition tournament in Brussels that also featured France, the Netherlands, and the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC). The Luxembourg national cricket team is the team that represents Luxembourg in international cricket. The Luxembourg Cricket Federation became an affiliate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 1998 and an associate member in 2017.

The 2022 Asia Cup Qualification was a men's cricket tournament which took place in Oman in August 2022 to determine qualification for the 2022 Asia Cup. The 2020 editions of the ACC Western and Eastern regional T20 tournaments were held in February and March of the same year by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Thirteen teams competed, with the aim of progressing to the qualifier. These were scheduled to be followed by the Asia Cup Qualifier tournament in Malaysia, which was due to be played in August 2020. However, in July 2020 the Asia Cup was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in the postponement of the qualifier. In May 2021, the Asian Cricket Council confirmed that there would be no Asia Cup in 2021, with that edition of the tournament deferred until 2023. It was later announced that there would be a T20I Asia Cup in 2022, to be hosted by the United Arab Emirates.

The Botswana cricket team toured Namibia in August 2019 to play a four-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series. The series was the first bilateral T20I series hosted in the country and provided Namibia with preparation for the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier. The teams also played two friendly 50-over matches either side of the T20I series.

The 2022 ACA Africa T20 Cup was a cricket tournament played in Benoni, Gauteng, South Africa. The finals tournament was originally scheduled to be held in September 2019, but was moved to March 2020, with the original host city being Nairobi, Kenya. On 9 March 2020, the tournament was postponed again due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in line with the Kenyan government's 30-day ban on international gatherings. The tournament was eventually rescheduled for September 2022.

The 2022 Malaysia Cricket World Cup Challenge League A was the third round of matches in Group A of the 2019–2022 ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League, a cricket tournament which formed part of the qualification pathway to the 2023 Cricket World Cup. In October 2019, the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed that the Malaysia Cricket Association would host the tournament, with the series scheduled to take place between 16 and 26 March 2020. All of the matches had List A status.

The 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier was a tournament that was played as part of qualification process for the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup in October 2021. In April 2018, the International Cricket Council (ICC) granted full international status to Twenty20 men's matches played between member sides from 1 January 2019 onwards. Therefore, all the matches in the Regional Qualifiers were played as Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). The Asia Qualifier consisted of two sub-regional groups, A and B, with the groups being played in Qatar and Malaysia respectively. The winners of each sub-regional group progressed to one of two global qualifiers. On 2 September 2021, the ICC announced that Group A had been moved from Kuwait to Qatar.

These were the first official T20I matches to be played in Luxembourg since the International Cricket Council announced that all matches played between Associate Members from 1 January 2019 would be eligible for T20I status. The series was organised to provide players with some international cricket after the postponement of the 2019 T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier. Belgium won the series with a game to spare, ending with a perfect record of four victories.

The 2021 Central Europe Cup was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament played in Prague between 21 and 23 May 2021. The participating teams were the hosts Czech Republic, along with Austria and Luxembourg. Malta were also due to take part, but were forced to withdraw due on 6 May due to COVID-19 restrictions. The tournament was played in a double round-robin format, with all matches hosted at the Vinoř Cricket Ground in Prague.

The 2021 Continental Cup was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament that took place at the Moara Vlasiei Cricket Ground in Ilfov County, Romania, in the first week of September 2021. Austria won the previous edition in 2019, but did not defend the title in 2021. The participating nations were the hosts Romania, along with Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Luxembourg and Malta. Hungary played their first ever official T20I match during the tournament. The teams were split into two groups, with the top two in each group progressing to the semi-finals.

The 2022 Central Europe Cup was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament that was played in Prague between 8 and 10 July 2022. The participating teams were the hosts Czech Republic, along with Austria and Luxembourg – the same sides that competed in the previous edition of the tournament. The tournament was being played in a double round-robin format. This was the eighth edition of the Central Europe Cup, with Austria the defending champions after having won on their debut at the Central Europe Cup in 2021.

This was the second edition of the Sofia Twenty20; the 2021 tournament was contested by four nations, but the 2022 edition took the form of a four-match bilateral series between Bulgaria and Serbia. The series was played at the National Sports Academy in Sofia. The series provided both teams with preparation for the 2022–23 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier subregional tournaments.

The 2022–23 ICC Men's T20 World Cup East Asia-Pacific Qualifier is a cricket tournament that forms part of the qualification process for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. The first stage of the qualification pathway in the East Asia-Pacific (EAP) region consisted of two sub-regional qualifiers: Qualifier A in Vanuatu in September 2022, and Qualifier B in Japan in October 2022. The winner of each of the sub-regional qualifiers progressed to the EAP regional final, to be played in 2023, where they were joined by Philippines and Papua New Guinea. The winner of the Regional Final will qualify for the 2024 T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the United States.

The Bulgaria cricket team toured Serbia from 8 to 9 July 2022 to play a three-match Twenty20 International (T20I) bilateral series against hosts Serbia. Bulgaria won their previous series earlier in June during the 2022 Sofia Twenty20. The series was played at the Lisicji Jarak Cricket Ground in Belgrade. The series provided both teams with preparation for the 2022–23 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier subregional tournaments.

The 2023 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Americas Qualifier is a cricket tournament that forms part of the qualification process for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. The first stage of the qualification pathway in the Americas region was the sub-regional qualifier, played in Argentina between 25 February and 4 March 2023. The top three teams in the sub-regional qualifier progressed to the Americas regional final, which will be played in Bermuda between 28 September and 8 October 2023, where they were joined by Canada, who competed in the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Global Qualifier A in Oman. The winner of the Americas Regional Final will qualify for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. The West Indies and the United States, who were also the members of the ICC Americas, qualified for the World Cup as hosts.
