The Bangladesh cricket team toured Zimbabwe in July and August 2022 to play three One Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. [1] [2] [3] The original tour schedule was for two Test matches and three ODIs, [4] but the Test matches were replaced by the T20I fixtures. [5] All the matches took place at the Harare Sports Club. [6] Prior to the series, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) named Nurul Hasan as their T20I captain for the tour, after Mahmudullah lacked performance and results. [7] However, Nurul suffered a finger injury during the second T20I match and was ruled out of the rest of the tour. [8] The BCB named Mosaddek Hossain as the team's captain for the third T20I match. Zimbabwe won the opening T20I match by 17 runs. [10] It was the team's sixth-consecutive win in T20Is, their best in the format. [11] Bangladesh won the second T20I by seven wickets to level the series. [12] Mosaddek Hossain took five wickets for 20 runs, the joint second-best bowling figures for Bangladesh in a T20I match. [13] Zimbabwe won the third T20I by 10 runs to win the series by 2–1 margin, which was their first T20I series win against Bangladesh. [14]

In the first ODI, Bangladesh scored 303 losing 2 wickets with their top four batters scoring fifties. In reply, Zimbabwe chased down the total with 10 balls to spare with the help of centuries from Innocent Kaia (110) and Sikandar Raza (135*). This was their joint-third highest successful run chase in ODIs. It was their first win against Bangladesh since 8 May 2013 ending their 19 successive defeats streak against Bangladesh. [15] The 192-run stand between Innocent Kaia and Sikandar Raza for the fourth wicket was their highest partnership for any wicket against Bangladesh as well as their fourth highest partnership for any wicket. [16] In the second ODI, Batting first, Bangladesh managed 290 runs in 50 overs. In reply, Zimbabwe lost four wickets in quick succession. But, the 201-run stand between Sikandar Raza and Regis Chakabva helped their side to win the match by 5 wickets, and Zimbabwe took an unassailable lead of 2–0 in the series. In the process, Raza scored back-to-back centuries in this ODI series and Chakabva scored his maiden ODI century off 73 balls, the fastest century by a Zimbabwean batter. [17] In the third ODI, Bangladesh could only manage 256 with the help of two half-centuries from Anamul Haque and Afif Hossain. In reply, Zimbabwe kept losing wickets at regular intervals and they were reduced to 83/9. But the 68-run stand between Richard Ngarava and Victor Nyauchi helped them to reduce the defeat margin before they were bowled out on 151 and Bangladesh won the match comprehensively by 105 runs. Eventually, Zimbabwe won the ODI series by a 2–1 margin. [18]

Bangladesh's Nurul Hasan suffered a finger injury during the second T20I match and was ruled out of the rest of the tour. [23] Mosaddek Hossain was named as the T20I captain for the third match, with Mahmudullah added to Bangladesh's T20I squad in place of Nurul Hasan. [24] Before the first ODI, Craig Ervine was ruled out of the series due to hamstring and knee injury and Regis Chakabva was named as the captain for the ODI series. Sean Williams was also granted leave from the ODI series due to personal reasons. Brad Evans was added to the Zimbabwe's squad in place of the injured Tendai Chatara. [25] Litton Das and Shoriful Islam suffered injuries during the first ODI and were replaced by Mohammad Naim and Ebadot Hossain respectively. [26]

Mohammad Mahmudullah, also known as Riyad, is a Bangladeshi cricketer and former T20I captain. He has played First-class and List A cricket for Dhaka Division and has represented Bangladesh in all forms of the game. An all-rounder, he is a lower or middle-order batsman as well as an off spin bowler. He has almost 10,000 runs and 150+ wickets. He is prominent for his ability to finish a close limited over game. He is the first Bangladeshi to score a World Cup hundred. Mahmudullah started his career as a bowler and then converted into a batsman who could bowl off-breaks.

Sikandar Raza Butt is a Pakistani-born Zimbabwean international cricketer. He is an all-rounder, who bats right-handed and bowls right arm off-spin. He made his international debut for Zimbabwe in May 2013.

He is a right-handed batter and a wicket-keeper. He made his international debut for Bangladesh in June 2015. He has scored the highest individual score for Bangladesh in ODI cricket (176).

The Zimbabwean cricket team toured Bangladesh in November 2015. In January 2016 the BCB confirmed a further four T20I matches to be played later the same month in Bangladesh as preparation for the Asia Cup and the World Twenty20.

Quazi Nurul Hasan Sohan is a Bangladeshi cricketer who represents Bangladesh in international stage in all formats. Sohan is well known in Bangladesh for his keeping skills and great flexibility. Sohan is a wicket-keeper batter and plays as a right-handed batter lower down the order. His main role is a hard-hitting finisher. He was born in Khulna, Bangladesh. In July 2022, he was named as the captain of the Twenty20 International (T20I) team for Bangladesh's tour of Zimbabwe.

The Bangladeshi cricket team toured New Zealand from December 2016 to January 2017 to play two Test matches, three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 International (T20Is). New Zealand won both the ODI and T20I series 3–0 and won the Test series 2–0.

Victor Nyauchi is a Zimbabwean cricketer. He was the leading wicket-taker in the 2017–18 Logan Cup for Mountaineers, with 31 dismissals in eight matches.

The Sri Lanka cricket team toured Bangladesh in January and February 2018 to play two Tests and two Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. Prior to the tour, both teams played in a tri-series, along with Zimbabwe.

The Bangladesh cricket team toured the West Indies and the United States between June and August 2018 to play two Tests, three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The final two T20I matches took place at the Central Broward Regional Park, in Lauderhill, Florida. The second Test took place in Jamaica, fourteen years after Bangladesh last played a Test there. Bangladesh last toured the West Indies in September 2014.

The 2018 Zimbabwe Tri-Nation Series was a cricket tournament held from 1 to 8 July 2018 in Zimbabwe. It was a tri-nation series between Australia, Pakistan and Zimbabwe, with all the matches played as Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) at the Harare Sports Club. In the fourth T20I, Pakistan beat Zimbabwe by seven wickets, therefore Australia and Pakistan qualified for the final. Pakistan defeated Australia in the final by six wickets to win the series.

The Bangladesh cricket team toured India to play three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) against the Afghanistan cricket team in Dehradun.

The 2019–20 Bangladesh Tri-Nation Series was a cricket tournament that took place in September 2019. It was a tri-nation series between Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Zimbabwe with all the matches played as Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).

The 2019–20 Singapore Tri-Nation Series was a cricket tournament that was held from 27 September to 3 October 2019 in Singapore. It was a tri-nation series featuring Singapore, Nepal and Zimbabwe, with all the matches played as Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). Singapore used the series as preparation for their first appearance in the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier in October 2019. It was the first T20I tri-series to be played in Singapore.

The Zimbabwe cricket team toured Bangladesh in February and March 2020 to play one Test match, three One Day International (ODI) and two Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. On 26 January 2020, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed the itinerary for the tour. It was the first time that a tour between the two sides featured a one-off Test match. Zimbabwe last toured Bangladesh in October and November 2018, and last won a series in the country during their tour in November 2001. On 9 February, the BCB moved the three ODI matches from Chittagong to the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, to give the venue more exposure and international attention. The one-off Test match was the 100th international match to be played between the two sides.
