Taichung,officially Taichung City,is a special municipality located in central Taiwan. Taichung has approximately 2.8 million residents and is the second most populous city of Taiwan,as well as the most populous city in Central Taiwan. It serves as the core of the Taichung–Changhua metropolitan area,the second largest metropolitan area in Taiwan.
Nantou County is the second largest county of Taiwan,located in the central part of the country. It is also the only non-coastal county in Taiwan. Its name derives from the Hoanya Taiwanese aboriginal word Ramtau.
Nangang District,also Nankang,is a southeastern district of Taipei,Taiwan. It is the seat of the Academia Sinica,Taipei World Trade Center Nangang Exhibition Hall,and Nankang Software Park (NKSP).
Changhua County is the smallest county on the main island of Taiwan by area,and the fourth smallest in the country. With a total population of 1.3 million,Changhua County is the most populous county in the Republic of China. Its capital is Changhua City and it is part of the Taichung–Changhua metropolitan area.
Tainan County was a county in southern Taiwan between 1945 and 2010. The county seat was in Sinying City.
Miaoli County is a county in western Taiwan. Miaoli is adjacent with Hsinchu County and Hsinchu City to the north,Taichung to the south,and borders the Taiwan Strait to the west. Miaoli is classified as a county in central Taiwan by the National Development Council,while the Taiwan Central Weather Bureau classifies Miaoli as a county in northern Taiwan. Miaoli City is the capital of the county,and is also known as "Mountain Town",owing to the number of mountains nearby,making it a destination for hiking.

Qingshui District,also spelled as Chingshui District,is a coastal suburban district in western Taichung City,Taiwan.
Nantou City is a county-administered city located in the northwest of Nantou County,Taiwan. It lies between the Bagua Mountains and the Maoluo River and is the county seat of Nantou County. Freeway No. 3 serves Nantou City. Its name is a transliteration of the Hoanya word Ramtau with its first character chosen to complement that of Beitou's,a district in Taipei,even though there is no relation between the aboriginal names.
Cimei Township is a rural township in Penghu County,Taiwan. The island is the fifth largest in the Pescadores (Penghu) and the southernmost island in the group. It is the smallest township in Penghu County.
Shalu District is a suburban district in central Taichung City,Taiwan.
Fengyuan District is a district located in north-central Taichung,Taiwan on the south bank of the Dajia River. Fengyuan district is the third most populated district among former Taichung County,ranking after Dali and Taiping district. Fengyuan was recognized as Huludun in early times,meaning "gourd" in Chinese,for a gourd-shape pile of mud that was found in Fengyuan by the aborigines. The rice produced in Fengyuan is famous for its high quality and the bakery industry prospered in later decades. Because of its location of the intersection of Taiwan Railways Administration Western Trunk line and Dongshi branch line,Fengyuan quickly expanded after World War II. It soon became one of the regions with great economic and cultural development in central Taiwan. After the merger of Taichung City and Taichung County in 2010,population and economic growth slowed slightly. so recently,fengyuan faces the challenge of being marginalized.
Districts are administrative subdivisions of the Republic of China (Taiwan)'s special municipalities of the second level and provincial cities of the third level formerly under its provinces. There are two types of district in the administrative scheme.
West District is a district of Taichung,Taiwan. It is the second smallest district in Taichung City after Central District. Former Taichung City Hall and part of Taichung City Government offices are located in this district.
Changhua,officially known as Changhua City,is a county-administered city and the county seat of Changhua County in Taiwan Province of the Republic of China. For many centuries the site was home to a settlement of Babuza people,a coastal tribe of Taiwanese aborigines. Changhua city is ranked first by population among county-administered cities. It is part of the Taichung–Changhua metropolitan area,which is the second largest in Taiwan.
Special municipality is an administrative division unit in Taiwan. Under the administrative structure of Taiwan,it is the highest level of division in Taiwan and is equating to a province. Since the streamlining of provinces in 1998,the special municipalities along with provincial cities and counties have all been directly under the central government.
TaichūPrefecture was one of the administrative divisions of Japanese Taiwan. The prefecture consisted of modern-day Taichung City,Changhua County and Nantou County. It is also the origin of the name of modern-day Taichung. The TaichūPrefecture was the scene of the 1930 Musha Incident,the last major uprising against colonial Japanese forces in Japanese Taiwan.
Lishan Constructing Administrative Bureau was a county level administrative body in Taiwan between 1973 and 1981.
