Tale of a Hero is a fantasy puzzle point-and-click adventure game developed by Czech company Future Games. It was released in 2009. [1] The game uses AGDS Engine. [2] The story was influenced by myths about King Arthur and Beowulf. [3] The game has never been released in English-language markets, but the Italian version includes full English voice acting and an English subtitle patch was later released. [4]

Plot

The game tells the story of Olaf who is a son of the great dragonslayer Halvard. He lives a calm and peaceful life with his friend Alia. That changes when he meets the witch Pripogala. She orders him to kill the snow giant Krugell who just woke up and wants to avenge his brother, who was killed by Olaf's father. [5] [6]

Critical reception

Gry Online praised the game's subtle, slightly ironic sense of humor. [7] Onet.gry felt the game design was addictive, logical and well-thought out. [8]

"Jack and the Beanstalk" is an English fairy tale. It appeared as "The Story of Jack Spriggins and the Enchanted Bean" in 1734 and as Benjamin Tabart's moralized "The History of Jack and the Bean-Stalk" in 1807. The Witcher is a series of six fantasy novels and 15 short stories written by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. The series revolves around the eponymous "witcher", Geralt of Rivia. In Sapkowski's works, "witchers" are beast hunters who develop supernatural abilities at a young age to battle wild beasts and monsters. The Witcher began with a titular 1986 short story that Sapkowski entered into a competition held by Fantastyka magazine, marking his debut as an author. Due to reader demand, Sapkowski wrote 14 more stories before starting a series of novels in 1994. Known as The Witcher Saga, he wrote one book a year until the fifth and final installment in 1999. A standalone prequel novel, Season of Storms, was published in 2013.

Marienbad was a 1962 Polish puzzle mainframe game created by Elwro engineer Witold Podgórski in Wrocław, Poland for its Odra 1003. It was an adaption of the logic game nim. Inspired by the discussion in the magazine Przekrój of a variant of nim in the 1961 film Last Year at Marienbad, named "Marienbad" by the magazine, Podgórski programmed the game for the in-development 1003 mainframe, released in 1963. The game had players opposing the computer in alternating rounds of removing matches from a set, with the last player to take a match the loser. As the computer always played the optimal moves, it was essentially unbeatable.

Gry-Online is a group of Polish websites devoted to computer games and electronic entertainment. Founded by Mariusz Klamra, Wojciech Antonowicz and Rafał Swaczyna, the group has grown to include Gry-Online, TVGry.pl, Gameplay.pl, and Gamepressure. <i>Dračí Historie</i> 1995 video game

Dračí historie is a 1995 DOS-based adventure game developed in the Czech Republic by NoSense. It was the first-ever Czech game to include dubbing and released on CD. The game was last updated in 2006. The dubbing was also translated into Polish and subtitles were translated into English and German.

Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales is a role-playing video game developed by CD Projekt Red. It is a spin-off of The Witcher video game franchise, and acts as the standalone single-player component for Gwent: The Witcher Card Game.
