Ramat HaSharon is a city located on Israel's central coastal strip in the south of the Sharon region, bordering Tel Aviv to the south, Hod HaSharon to the east, and Herzliya and Kibbutz Glil Yam to the north. It is part of the Tel Aviv District, within the Gush Dan metropolitan area. In 2021 it had a population of 47,970.

During his career, he was mainly a doubles specialist, having won the men's doubles title at the 2008 Australian Open with Andy Ram. Wimbledon, the oldest of the majors, was founded in 1877, followed by the US Open in 1881, the French Open in 1891 and the Australian Open in 1905. Beginning in 1905 and continuing to the present day, all four majors have been played yearly, with the exception of during the two World Wars, 1986 for the Australian Open, and 2020 for Wimbledon. The Australian Open is the first major of the year (January), followed by the French Open (May–June), Wimbledon (June–July) and the US Open (August–September). There was no prize money and players were compensated for travel expenses only. A player who wins all four majors, in singles or as part of a doubles team, in the same calendar year is said to have achieved a "Grand Slam". If the player wins all four consecutively, but not in the same calendar year, it is called a "Non-Calendar Year Grand Slam". Winning all four at some point in a career, even if not consecutively, is referred to as a "Career Grand Slam". Winning the four majors and a gold medal in tennis at the Summer Olympics in the same calendar year has been called a "Golden Slam" since 1988. Winning all four majors plus an Olympic gold at some point in a career, even if not consecutively, is referred to as a "Career Golden Slam". The tournament took place at the Arena Sofia in Sofia, Bulgaria.
The Next Generation ATP Finals is an annual men's professional exhibition tennis tournament organized by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) for the best players of the season aged 20 years old or younger. The event debuted in 2017 at the PalaLido in Milan, where it was also staged for the next four editions, before it was moved to King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, beginning in 2023. From 2017 to 2023 the age threshold was 21 years and under.

The 2020 ATP Tour was the global elite men's professional tennis circuit organised by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) for the 2020 tennis season. The 2020 ATP Tour calendar was composed of the Grand Slam tournaments, the ATP Finals, the ATP Tour Masters 1000, the ATP Cup, the ATP Tour 500 series, the ATP Tour 250 series, and the Davis Cup. Also included in the 2020 calendar were the tennis events at the Next Generation ATP Finals, and the Laver Cup, neither of which distributed ranking points. Several tournaments were suspended or postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, including the Summer Olympics in Tokyo. On 17 June 2020, ATP issued the revised calendar for Tour resumption.
The ATP Cup was an international outdoor hard court men's tennis team tournament, which ran from 2020 to 2022. The tournament was played across one or three Australian cities over ten days in the lead up to the Australian Open, and featured teams from 12, 16 or 24 countries. The event was the first ATP team competition since the ATP World Team Cup, which was held in Düsseldorf from 1978 to 2012.

It was the first edition of the Tel Aviv Open at the ATP Tour level since 1996, and part of the ATP Tour 250 series of the 2022 ATP Tour. It was played at Expo Tel Aviv in Tel Aviv, Israel, from 26 September to 2 October 2022.
The Lee-on-Solent Open was a clay court then later hard court tennis event founded in 1921. It was held at the Lee-on-Solent Lawn Tennis and Squash Club (f.1911), Lee-on-Solent, Hampshire, England through until 2000 when it was abolished.
The 2023 Sofia Open was a men's tennis tournament to be played on indoor hard courts. It was the eighth edition of the event and it was part of the ATP 250 tournaments on the 2023 ATP Tour. It was played at the Arena Sofia in Sofia, Bulgaria, from 6 November to 11 November 2023. The tournament replaced the 2023 edition of the Tel Aviv Open, which was canceled due to the 2023 Israel–Hamas war.
