"The Beginning" is a song by English singer-songwriter Seal, released in July 1991 by ZTT, Warner UK and Sire as the third single from his debut album, Seal (1991). The song was edited for the UK release, but the US release saw a completely new remix produced for the single. [1] [2] [3] It was a top 20-hit in Finland, Ireland and the Netherlands. In the UK, it peaked at number 24.

Critical reception

Paul Lester from Melody Maker commented, "By several zillion miles the stand-out track from Seal's debut LP—I can't stomach all that electro-trobadour, Richie Havens-with-knobs-on crusading urban blues nonsense meself—'The Beginning' is a stunningly propulsive rush of Housey energy that should ensure the man's residency at the top of the charts for another few centuries." [4] Pan-European magazine Music & Media wrote, "For being a newcomer, this man turned into a household name in no time. This third single off his self-titled album, and follow-up to 'Future Love Paradise' is tuneful, soulful and full of good grooves." [5] Dele Fadele from NME felt the song "lacks the mystical edge that made 'Crazy' so gripping and euphoric—thanks to a Trevor Horn-on-autopilot production—but is still an improvement on the cloying 'Future Love Paradise'". [6]

Commercially, the track was presented with the slogan, "Hard dance with attitude" and is built around a repeated vocal sample from "You're No Good for Me", a song released by American singer Kelly Charles in 1987. Howlett initially had doubts whether to use the sample because he thought it was too pop for his taste. The song also contains samples from "Funky Nassau" by Bahamian funk group the Beginning of the End. It was certified Gold in Germany for 250,000 sold copies. The music video for the song was directed by Walter Stern and filmed in London.

"Incredible" is a song by British jungle producer M-Beat featuring General Levy on vocals. It was first released as a single in 1994 and reached No. 39 on the UK Singles Chart. A re-release a few months later featuring new mixes was much more successful, peaking at No. 8, and remaining on the chart for 12 weeks. "Incredible" was the first jungle track to reach the top 10 in the UK. It was released on Renk Records.

"Go on Move" is a song by American solo project Reel 2 Real, featuring ragga vocals by Trinidad and Tobago rapper the Mad Stuntman. Originally released in 1993 by Strictly Rhythm as a single from the project's debut album, Move It! (1994), it was re-released in 1994 after the success of "I Like to Move It". "Go on Move" became a top-10 hit in Canada (6), Finland (4), Ireland (6), the Netherlands (10) and the UK. In the latter, the song reached number seven on the UK Singles Chart. But on the UK Dance Singles Chart, it was an even bigger hit, peaking at number two. In the US, it peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart, while it peaked at number one on the Canadian RPM Dance/Urban chart. Its accompanying music video was directed by Craig McCall, who had previously directed the video for "I Like to Move It". "Go on Move" was A-listed on Germany's VIVA in August 1994.
