The film is based on a true story concerning the collapse of the Knickerbocker Bank in New York. The film starred Constance Collier in her second film role. Collier made this film during her trip to the United States with Herbert Beerbohm Tree. [2]

Constance Collier was an English stage and film actress and acting coach. She wrote hit plays and films with Ivor Novello and she was the first person to be treated with insulin in Europe.

Produced by Daryl Zanuck and released by Warner Brothers it is based on a 1918 Broadway play about World War I spies, Three Faces East, by Anthony Paul Kelly. It was filmed as a silent in 1926. A later remake in 1940 starred Boris Karloff and Margaret Lindsay was titled British Intelligence.
