TVN (originally standing for Total Variety Network, stylized as tvN) is a South Korean nationwide pay television network owned by CJ E&M, the entertainment division of CJ ENM. tvN programming consists of a variety of entertainment content focused on television series and variety shows. It is available on cable, on satellite through SkyLife, and on IPTV platforms in South Korea. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] Since 2014, the network has been headed by Kang Ho-sung. From June 28, 2010, to April 30, 2013, tvN Go was broadcast by renting a channel from Korea DMB.

TV series

tvN dramas are exported to various countries in Asia and the Americas. tvN's highest-rated TV series are Queen of Tears , Crash Landing on You , Reply 1988 and Guardian: The Lonely and Great God . The final episode of Queen of Tears recorded 24.850% nationwide audience share, making it the third highest ratings recorded by a Korean cable television drama. [6] While Crash Landing on You became the first tvN drama to cross 20% ratings, and was critically acclaimed for its screenplay, direction and performances. [7] Reply 1988 received both critical and audience acclaim, with its finale episode achieved an 18.8% nationwide audience share and making it the highest rated drama in Korean cable television history for the next three years. [8] In addition, Guardian: The Lonely and Great God was also a hit and consistently topped cable television viewership ratings in its time slot. Its final episode recorded an 18.680% nationwide audience share, the second highest ratings of a Korean cable television drama at the time. [9] It received critical acclaim and became a cultural phenomenon in South Korea. [10]

Currently, tvN dramas hold 28 spots of the 50 on the list of highest-rated Korean dramas in cable television.

It aired on the cable network tvN on Mondays and Tuesdays for 16 episodes from 4 January to 1 March 2016. The series is based on the webtoon of the same name, serialized on Naver Webtoon from 2010 to 2016, although it featured an original ending since the webtoon had not been completed at the time of filming.

<i>Reply 1988</i> 2015–2016 South Korean television series

Reply 1988 is a South Korean television series starring Lee Hye-ri, Ryu Jun-yeol, Go Kyung-pyo, Park Bo-gum, and Lee Dong-hwi. Beginning in the year 1988, it revolves around five friends and their families living in the same neighborhood of Ssangmun-dong, Dobong District, Northern Seoul. It aired every Friday and Saturday from November 6, 2015, to January 16, 2016, on tvN for 20 episodes.

Reply (Korean: 응답하라) is a South Korean anthology television series directed by Shin Won-ho with teleplay by Lee Woo-jung that premiered in 2012 on cable network tvN. It revolves around a group of friends, as the timeline moves back and forth between their past and present selves.

Lee Woo-jung is a South Korean television screenwriter. Lee was one of star writer. Lee Myung-han, is a South Korean producer. He used to be known by his nickname Lee PD, the term "PD" is commonly used in Korean television to denote a "producer-director" or "production director." Lee worked as director for shows such as Star Golden Bell, Happy Sunday: Heroine 5, Happy Sunday: Heroine 6, Happy Sunday: High-Five. However he is best known for directing and producing the popular KBS variety-reality shows 2 Days & 1 Night, and as creative producer for popular tvN variety-reality shows Grandpas Over Flowers and their spin-offs.
