The Van Halen 2015 Tour was the final concert tour by American hard rock band Van Halen in support of the group's live album, Tokyo Dome Live in Concert , recorded during the band's previous tour. The band toured the United States and Canada during the summer and fall of 2015. [1] It is the final tour the band performed prior to the death of Eddie Van Halen in 2020.

History

On March 24, 2015, the official Van Halen website was updated to announce a concert tour to take place during the summer and fall of 2015, primarily in outdoor venues. [2] The band also announced that they would be performing on television for the first time, with performances on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on March 30, [3] and on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on April 2. [4]

The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band served as the opening act for all dates except for the September 19 show in Atlanta, Georgia.

The tour ultimately grossed $26 million, covering 39 cities and 41 shows. [5]

Wolfgang Van Halen revealed some of the tour's setlist on Twitter on July 2, 2015. [6] The full setlist was revealed three days later at the first performance on the tour, at White River Amphitheater in Auburn, Washington. [7] Throughout the tour, the setlist featured songs that had not been played in concert in over three decades, and others that had never been played live before.

Live Without a Net is a live concert video of Van Halen recorded in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1986, and released later that year. It was of their performance on August 17, 1986 at New Haven's Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The 90-minute release removed a few songs from the full performance. While the band attempted to record the previous night, audio problems prevented it from being used, although some video footage from that night would later surface in music videos. The concerts were part of the 5150 Tour, supporting the album of the same name, Van Halen's first with lead singer Sammy Hagar.

Wolfgang William Van Halen is an American musician. The son of actress Valerie Bertinelli and guitarist Eddie Van Halen, he performed alongside his father as the bassist for the rock band Van Halen from 2006 to 2020. After his father's death in 2020 led to the disbandment of Van Halen, he began to focus on his solo project Mammoth WVH, in which he performs all instruments and vocals. A Different Kind of Truth is the twelfth and final studio album by American rock band Van Halen. Released on February 7, 2012, by Interscope Records, this is Van Halen's only studio album on Interscope and its first full-length album of studio material with lead singer David Lee Roth since 1984. Likewise, A Different Kind of Truth was Van Halen's first studio album since 1998's Van Halen III, as well as their only studio album recorded without bassist Michael Anthony, who had played bass on all of the band's previous albums; Eddie Van Halen's son Wolfgang replaced Anthony for the album, making this his only studio album with the band. It would also be Van Halen's final studio album before Eddie's death and the group's subsequent disbandment in 2020.
