China and Kazakhstan did not participate as their weightlifting federations were suspended by the IWF from October 2017 to October 2018. [2]

1962 Asian Games

The 1962 Asian Games also known as the 4th Asian Games, IV Asiad, and Jakarta 1962, was the fourth edition of pan-Asian multi-sport event sanctioned by the Asian Games Federation (AGF). The games were held from 24 August to 4 September 1962, in Jakarta, Indonesia. It was the first international multi-sport event hosted by the then-17-year-old Southeast Asian country. This was the first of two Asian Games hosted by the city: the second was held in 2018, with Palembang as the co-host.

Weightlifting at the 2010 Asian Games was held in Guangzhou, China from November 13 to 19, 2010. There are seven weight categories for the women and eight for the men. All competition took place at the Dongguan Arena.

Weightlifting competitions at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro took place from 6 to 16 August at the Pavilion 2 of Riocentro. 260 athletes competed in 15 different events according to their respective weight categories. Bulgaria and Russia were banned from participating in the sport for systematic doping.

Iran competed in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia from 18 August to 2 September 2018. Iran has competed at the Asian Games since the first event in 1951 Delhi, and the best achievement was in 1974, when the country hosted the event in Tehran, by ranked second with the acquisition of 36 gold, 28 silver and 17 bronze medals. At the latest edition in Incheon, the country wrapped up its campaign with 57 medals in all - 21 gold, 18 silver and 18 bronze.

Omadoy Otakuziyeva is an Uzbekistani weightlifter. In 2018, she won the silver medal in the women's 75 kg event at the 2018 Asian Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Muattar Nabieva is an Uzbekistani weightlifter. She is a bronze medalist at the Islamic Solidarity Games and a two-time bronze medalist at the Asian Weightlifting Championships. In 2021, she represented Uzbekistan at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. In 2018, she represented Uzbekistan at the Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Nurul Akmal is an Indonesian weightlifter. In 2017, she won the silver medal in the women's +90 kg event at the 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games held in Baku, Azerbaijan. She also represented Indonesia at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.

Kim Su-hyeon is a South Korean weightlifter.

Seraj Al-Saleem is a Saudi Arabian weightlifter. He won the bronze medal in the men's 61 kg event at the 2021 World Weightlifting Championships held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. He also won the silver medal in the men's 61 kg event at the 2020 Asian Weightlifting Championships, also held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
