Jama Masjid is a station on the Delhi Metro system. [1] The Heritage Line stretch of the Delhi Metro was flagged off by Union Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on 28-May-2017. The corridor will be operational from 28-May-2017, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced on 26-May-2017.

An extension of the Violet Line (ITO-Escort Mujeser), this entirely underground section comprises four stations—Kashmere Gate, Dilli Gate, Jama Masjid and Lal Qila. [2]

History

The ITO-Kashmere Gate line was thrown open for public on Sunday. With its launch, the Metro makes inroads into old Delhi or the ‘Walled City’ with four stations—Delhi Gate, Jama Masjid, Red Fort and Delhi Gate. [3]

In 2024, Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has changed the name of Jama Masjid metro station to 'Mankameshwar metro station'. [4]

Kashmere Gate, also known as Kashmiri Gate, is an important metro station on Delhi Metro in Delhi, which is elevated for the Red Line and underground for both the Yellow Line and Violet Line. It is a transfer station between the Red Line on the highest upper level, the Yellow Line on the lowest underground level and Violet Line on the parallel underground level. It is the busiest metro station in India. It was named on 25 December 2002. During peak hours, it serves as an alternate Northern Terminus for the yellow line along with Vishwa Vidyalaya.

Inderlok is an interchange metro station of the Red Line and Green Line of Delhi Metro. The station is the terminal for the Green Line to Brigadier Hoshiyar Singh, which is located in Bahadurgarh district of Haryana. One interesting thing about the Inderlok station is that the Green Line meets the Red Line perpendicularly here, unlike all the other interchange stations. This design choice ended the possibility of extending the line in the future.
