Janpath is a Delhi Metro station on the Violet Line under the metro's phase III expansion. It is part of a plan to introduce a parallel line to the busy Yellow Line corridor as well as provide quicker access to the Blue Line by connecting Mandi House and Central Secretariat. The station was opened on 26 June 2014. [1]
In April 2013, Delhi Metro rounded off the 1,516-metre tunnel on Mandi House-Janpath stretch of Phase-III expansion project. It took 182 days of excavation work to complete the tunnel. The 5.8 dia tunnel runs under some notable places like the American Centre, Nepal Embassy, Fulbright House, Antriksh Bhawan, Scindia House and Janpath Market to name a few. [2]
The new metro station is targeted at easing the congestion at the Rajiv Chowk Metro station, which is bustling with more than 300,000 commuters every day. This phase three project will add an extra 140 km to Delhi's metro network, covering almost 75 percent of Delhi metropolis. [3]

Namma Metro, also known as Bengaluru Metro, is a rapid transit system serving the city of Bengaluru, India. It is the second longest operational metro network in India with an operational length of 73.75 kilometers just after Delhi Metro. Upon its inauguration, it became the first underground metro system in South India. Namma Metro has a mix of underground, at grade, and elevated stations. Out of the operational 66 metro stations of Namma Metro as of October 2023, there are 57 elevated stations, 8 underground stations and 1 at-grade station. The system runs on standard-gauge tracks.
The Red Line is a metro rail line of the Delhi Metro, a rapid transit system in Delhi, India. It is an entirely elevated line and has 29 stations that runs from Rithala to Shaheed Sthal with a total distance of 34.55 km. The Tis Hazari – Shahdara section of this line was the first stretch of the Delhi Metro that was constructed and commissioned. The line connects the areas of Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh and the districts of Shahdara, Central Delhi and North West Delhi in Delhi.
The Chennai Metro is a rapid transit system serving the city of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is the 4th longest metro system in India. The system commenced service in 2015 after partially opening the first phase of the project. The current network consists of two colour-coded lines covering a length of 54 kilometres (34 mi). The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), a joint venture between Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu built and operates the Chennai Metro. The system has a mix of underground and elevated stations and uses standard gauge. The services operate daily between 05:00 and 23:00 with a varying frequency of 2 to 8 minutes.
Delhi has significant reliance on its transport infrastructure. It is funded by a public–private partnership (PPP), with the state government holding a minority equity stake. Hyderabad Metro is the world's largest elevated Metro Rail system based on DBFOT basis. A special purpose vehicle company, L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Ltd (L&TMRHL), was established by the construction company L&T to develop the Hyderabad metro rail project.
The Violet Line is a metro rail line of the Delhi Metro, a rapid transit system in Delhi, India. The line connects Kashmere Gate station in New Delhi with Raja Nahar Singh in Ballabhgarh via Faridabad. The line consists of 32 metro stations with a total length of 46.34 kilometres (28.79 mi).
The Kashmere Gate is a Delhi Metro station in Delhi, on the Red Line, Yellow Line and Violet Line. It is a transfer station between the Red Line on the highest upper level, the Yellow Line on the lowest underground level and Violet Line on the parallel underground level. It is the busiest metro station in India. It was named on 25 December 2002. During peak hours, it serves as an alternate Northern Terminus for the yellow line along with Vishwa Vidyalaya.
The Central Secretariat is a Delhi Metro station in Delhi, on the Yellow Line. The Violet Line links it with Badarpur Border. The station provides a same-level interchange between the two lines. It was the southern terminus of the Yellow line from 2005 to September 2010, and the northern terminus of the Violet Line from 3 October 2010 to 26 June 2014.
The Mandi House metro station is located on the Blue Line and Violet Line of the Delhi Metro in Delhi, India. It services the cultural hub of Delhi, the Mandi House area which has the National School of Drama, Ravindra Bhavan, home of Sangeet Natak Akademi and Sahitya Akademi, Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts and Triveni Kala Sangam, As well as the Bengali Market and the nearby residential areas.
Kalkaji Mandir metro station is an interchange station of the Delhi Metro between Violet Line and Magenta Line. The interchange is situated in two levels - underground and elevated. There is seamless connection between the two lines, which allows commuters to change lines without requiring to exit from the ticketed area. There is a five minutes walking tunnel between these two lines to interchange. This is located between Nehru Place and Govindpuri stations of the Violet Line, and between Nehru Enclave and Okhla NSIC stations of the Magenta Line. It provides access to tourist sites such as Kalkaji Mandir, Lotus Temple, Prachin Bhairav Mandir and ISKCON Temple which are situated very near to the station. The station was opened with the first section of the Line from Central Secretariat - Sarita Vihar on 3 October 2010, in time for the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony on the same day. The metro station also houses a departmental store. The interchange with Magenta Line was opened on 25 December 2017. Big Bazaar is also available in the basement of this metro station.
Harkesh Nagar Okhla is a Delhi Metro station in Delhi. It is located between Govindpuri and Jasola Apollo stations on the Violet Line. The station was opened with the first section of the Line on 3 October 2010 in time for the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony on the same day. It was earlier known as Okhla, and was renamed in December 2014. It serves Harkesh Nagar, Shyam Nagar, Okhla Phase II and IIIT Delhi.

The Bhanupli–Leh line is an under-construction, high-elevation, all-weather, 489 km (304 mi) long, 1,676 mm wide gauge, electrified railway track connecting Bhanupli in Punjab state to Leh in Ladakh union territory of India. It will reduce travel time from New Delhi to Leh to 10 hours. Passing through seismic zone IV and V at an elevation of 600m to 5,360m above sea level, the line will surpass China's Qinghai–Tibet railway to become the highest railway in the world. The Indian Defence Ministry identified this project as one of the four important strategic railway connections to the border with China. The line, with a total length of 489 km (304 mi), including the 13 km (8.1 mi) Leh-Sasherthang rail link, will cost ₹99,000 crore. This includes ₹62,0000 crore for 62 tunnels of total 270 km length, 114 major bridges and 90 minor bridges. The construction phases are:
Rapid Metro Gurgaon is a light metro system serving the city of Gurgaon, Haryana, India. Rapid Metro connects the commercial areas of Gurgaon, and acts as a feeder link to the Delhi Metro with an interchange with its Yellow Line at Sikanderpur metro station.
The Noida Metro is a rapid transit system connecting the twin cities of Noida, Greater Noida in Gautam Buddh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, India. The metro network consists of one line, with a total length of 29.7 kilometres (18.5 mi) serving 21 stations. The system has all elevated stations using standard-gauge tracks.
Line 3 (Aqua Line) of the Mumbai Metro is a rapid transit metro line in the city of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. When completed, the 33.5 km (20.8 mi) long line will be the first underground metro line in Mumbai, with 27 underground stations and one at-grade station. The line will run from Navy Nagar in the far-south of Mumbai to Aarey Depot in the north-centre, and will include connections to other metro lines, monorail, suburban rail, inter-city rail, and Mumbai's International Airport. Line 3 is expected to reduce road congestion, and to reduce the load on the Western Line between Bandra and Churchgate.
The Pink Line is a metro rail line of the Delhi Metro, a rapid transit system in Delhi, India. It consists of 38 metro stations from Majlis Park to Shiv Vihar, both in North Delhi.
The Dabur ITO metro station is a station on the Delhi Metro, under the Violet Line. It was inaugurated on 8 June 2015 by the then Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
The Palam metro station is a part of the Magenta Line, connecting Botanical Garden in Noida to Janakpuri in west Delhi. It was opened to public on 29 May 2018.
