Mageragere is a sector (umurenge) in the Nyarugenge District of Kigali Province, Rwanda. [1] It is located in the west part of the city of Kigali.

Demographics

In 2012, Its population was 23,407 inhabitants.

According to the 2022 census, the sector had a total population of 59,747 inhabitants. These are its Gender demographics:

The Rwanda Environment Management Authority hypothesised that the high male-to-female ratio was due to a tendency for men to migrate to the city in search of work outside the agricultural sector, while their wives remained in a rural home. [3]

As of 2022 it has a 59% Urban rate, and a 41% rural rate. It is quite young with 32.7% of the population is under 15 and 64.4% of the population being younger than 65 and older than 15. Only 2.9% of the population is older than 64. [4]
